This Year's Model Updates:

Toyota has expanded the Tundra's body style variety by adding a new StepSide model. Its distinctive styling includes flared rear wheel arches and special tail lamps. If you want to make the StepSide even sportier, there is a new sport suspension package available. All 2003 Toyota Tundras have a restyled front fascia, standard antilock brakes and a center console similar to the one found in the Sequoia SUV. For the top-line Limited trim, Toyota has added a power sliding rear window.

Pros:
  • Silky V8, Toyota build quality and reliability, less-than-full-size maneuverability.
Cons:
  • Lacks wide range of choice offered by domestics, somewhat uncomfortable front seats, meager rear cab room on Access Cab, chintzy interior trimmings.

absolutely excellent vehicle, this is my second tundra, they are unbreakable and extremely reliable. I highly recommend all toyota products, I just wish that they would come out with a diesel in the U.S.

If youre looking for quality, reliability and value, get a Tundra. Ill take the gas mileage 16-19 anyday for the value and the low maintenance costs. Truly a well-built vehicle. Drivetrain is smooth and powerful. This should tell you all about Toyota engineering: they use 6 quarts of oil in the crank compared to 4 and 5 from everyone else. Get the towing package; if nothing else, you get the HD tranny with aux. cooler. The drivetrain will last forever. No regrets.

Serenely quiet in town and on the highway. Great acceleration and good handling. Gas milage okay - 17 MPG mixed. Fit and finish are remarkable. Havent checked towing yet, but expect it will be quite capable. 4X4 works well and transmits road feel to the steering wheel.

It is nice not to know any service writers although Precision is a great dealership. The truck rides better than the Avalon and hauls what I need it to. Most of the larger trucks, the so called heavy duty, are great for just that, however, the majority of the miles call for comfort and reliability.

This has been an excellent truck. Bought it brand new in 3/03 and have not had it in for any kind of repairs what-so-ever. I have used it for all sorts of things...around town, travelling long distances, hauling light and heavy loads. No problems with the paint as others have mentioned...however, I keep mine in the garage when possible and wax it at least twice per year. The gas mileage, while not great compared to a car, is better than any truck or even SUV ive ever had. I avg 16mpg, and that is mostly city driving (range is 13-21). Excellent build quality and ride from a truck. Take care of your vehicle and it will take care of you!

After 50000 miles driving, owning this truck I am throughly delighted with it. I would like a larger truck to tow our fifth wheel with and am eagerly awaiting the 2007.

  • Damn good truck! - 2003 Toyota Tundra

After 5 Ford F150/250s since 93 I decided to try Tundra.Couldnt be more pleased. Many reviews complain re gas mileage, but what does one expect from a 245 hp V-8? I get 16 city 19+ hwy. Last F150 (2001 V-6) was about the same. Ive had this truck 3+ months and 9800 miles. Id give it all 10s; but those are reserved for my wife.

I test drove the big 3 and wasnt impressed with the build quality of them. The tundra is a little smaller, but, this makes it easier to park, more fun to drive and it actually fits into the garage. It does not however have as much interior room as the others, but, other than children (who fit fine in the tundra) how often are you going to drive long distances with adults in the back.I understand that some may need the chevy heavy duty for "heavy duty" truck work that calls for a diesal or bigger engine and payloads, but for the average truck person who occasionally tows, hauls, and uses their truck as a truck/commuter, the Tundra is a perfect fit.
