This Year's Model Updates:

The Sienna has been completely redesigned for 2004. Roomier and more powerful than before, Toyota's minivan entry now has the all-important fold-flat third-row seat, as well as a choice of seven- or eight-passenger seating (on lower level trims) and available all-wheel drive.

Pros:
  • Reliable Camry genes, refined V6, fold-flat 60/40 third-row seat, seven- and eight-passenger seating configurations, available all-wheel drive.
Cons:

  • Pretty Decent and Useful Van - 2004 Toyota Sienna

I still have the 2004 Toyota Sienna XLE Limited AWD van. Its been a solid performer since day 1. Its quiet, powerful, dependable, and comfortable on long trips. We live in New England, and its great in the winter. We have the 7-seat option, so there is plenty of room. I have had a few service items, some expected, some not. Problem areas: Oxygen and Air/Fuel sensors, inconsistent electrical problems with doors & windows, brake rotors/disks, rear wheel bearings.

  • Several Bothersome Quirks - 2004 Toyota Sienna

Im a repeat Sienna owner. Leased a 97 and loved it. Bought a top-of- the-line 04 and wish I had leased it, so I can dump it. Navigation system stinks. It is disabled when car is in motion. Not even a passenger can plot a route without stopping (usually on the side of a busy highway!!) Run-flat tires are sold as a feature. They wear out in 20K miles and cost 3X the price of conventionals. No spare brings up all sorts of safety problems. They are rated as Ultra High Performance All- Season. What? On a minivan? Transmission shifts very poorly, particularly when downshifting then accelerating, as one does at yield signs, toll booths, etc.

  • Gotta Lemon - 2004 Toyota Sienna

Paid Sticker for a lemon. Since I have purchased my Sienna - I have had a new Radiator (mine split open), the inside hinge the driver door broke off (when I got this fixed, the annoying rattling went away), one of the speakers crackles, and ALL of the rear seatbelts need to be fixed - the fixtures around them are broken. Thank God the DVD player still works. Tried to trade it, but I would have lost my shirt.

  • I am not sure - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

I am not an experienced van driver, dont know much about car either. This is the first van for us. We decided to buy a toyota van after seeing the previous reviews about the 2004 sienna. I am still wondering if I got a good deal. But what comforts me most is that my wife loves this van after I drove her to work and picked her up several times. I used to love living in Chicago but now I hate it since it snowed Monday, just two days I bought the van. Forgot to mention, my 6-year-old son showed off to everyone the new van even strangers.

  • 2004 sienna 8 seat CE - tires?? - 2004 Toyota Sienna

Pleased with the reliability of the van, variety of space configurations, but please, help with tire selection! Looking to purchase our 4th set of years. Recommendations?

  • Sienna Number Two - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

I miss the design of the old Sienna, but love the bigger hauling capacity. Not pleased about getting my first recall on it, but not overly worried. The black plastic dash looks like Darth Vaders head, and its hard to keep clean. Hooray for the folding 3rd seat. Gas mileage has been great.

  • Very Disappointed - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Shortly after purchasing my Sienna, I began having problems. The dealer couldnt figure out why my check engine light came on several times a week, so they sent the van to another dealer two hours away. That dealer replaced the computer. My radiator has been replaced, all hoses have been replaced, and the fuses blow constantly. I LOVE this van as far as comfort and ease of driving. I am just very disappointed that I spent this much money and Im having this many problems. We are in the process of purchasing another vehicle.

  • Im ashamed of my car - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

All the problems we have encountered seem to be my fault not TOYOTA. Can U believe that? Run flat tires were replaced at 20km. Rims destroyed while replacing new tires. Side doors are rusting even though theres tape for protection. Sliding door wire snapped off because of rust, (2mths before end of warranty). Paint job on van must be poor quality because rust is showing through. We have changed our front & back brakes & wheel bearing the 2nd time in 4yrs. Really frustrated! Not to mention all the recalls. No one wants to acknowledge there are problems with 2004 awd vans but me

  • Good family car..but not so comfortable - 2004 Toyota Sienna

The van is fine,,but it is small and a bit uncomfortable if you are a larger than average person. It doesnt handle smooth, but i am used to driving a cadillac.

  • love that gas hog! - 2004 Toyota Sienna

Just bought it and I love the feel and ride. The fuels economy is pretty bad, though and with gas prices increasing, thats not good.
