  • 2 Years with the Rav - 2006 Toyota RAV4

Noticed that many have only had their cars for 2 months and are extremely pleased. Had mine for 2 years so heres a real review. Fit and finish, build are very good. I have the base 4WD. Handles great in the snow. The only thing I would improve on is the mileage. I get 22 city/hgwy. After 2 years am bored looking at it. Am waiting for something a little more sporty, that gets better mileage. Am sure Ill plenty to choose from, then Ill say bye bye Rav.

  • I like my RAV - 2006 Toyota RAV4

I do love my RAV, but there are things that are disappointing since it is a Toyota. The ride could be smoother and I do not get the gas mileage reported on the sticker, my 6 disk indash CD player display also messes up a lot. I love the look, design on the inside and the room that it offers for a small SUV.

  • Great midsize suv - 2006 Toyota RAV4

Tthis is my first suv, and am very pleased with it, although it does seem to have a little delay in power when first pressing the gas pedal, and the gas mileage could be better. Overall I am quite happy with this car. Looking forward to testing the 4wd in the winter :).

  • First Foreign Car Buy a Disappointment - 2006 Toyota RAV4

After all of the great reviews on here and on Consumer Reports for Toyota, I was really excited to buy the new RAV4 Limited, my first foreign car. Im not sure Id do it again if I knew a few things in advance - Im 61" tall and I need 1 or 2 more inches of driver side leg room, headlights dont turn on automatically and the electric outlet only works when car is on. Also, the acceleration is excellent, but the transmission doesnt seem to know how to accommodate it from a stop; my tires squeal too easily... and Im not a stranger to good acceleration.

I am very impressed with vehicles performance to economy ratio, although I only have driven it 500 miles. Would like to re-review in about 6 months.

  • Great vehicle...but - 2006 Toyota RAV4

After 11000 miles the drivers seat is still very uncomfortable, too hard and difficult to zero in on adjustment that is tolerable. A couple hundrd miles at the wheel kills my back. The arm rests..what were they thinking? The power window and door lock area is a major protrusion. Auto up and down drivers window...why? not necessary. The vehicle is built well, rides and handles tight with tight turning radius..very nice.Power with 4 cyl.is good enough,my wife and i drove it from NY to Florida and it had pleanty of power to handle the interstates and got 27 mpg fully loaded with a milage robbing clam shell cargo carrier on the roof. Two years down the road, trade it in for vehicle with more comfort.

  • Consider your purchase wisely - 2006 Toyota RAV4

Great car for resale and possible reliabilty. V6 is peppy but hard to handle when flooring it to get up to speed or pull out into traffic, the steering wavers. Very choppy bouncy ride. Has had loss of power when accelerating onto freeway twice. Shifts late at times, just enough to be annoying. Have actually had to give it gas to go down hill. Dont let the fancy controls of the Limited sway you, simple dials are easier to use. Seats are hard. Tow package does not include wiring, you cant do it yourself, because it has to be wired from the dash to the back. Rear suspension cant handle 1200 lb. tent trailer. Snow/rain gets in through the door controls and freezes.

  • Great Transportation - 2006 Toyota RAV4

I just traded my 2002 RAV4 in for a 2006 a couple months ago, and all of the things that I had issues with (all were very minor) they addressed. I wished that it had a little more power, seats fold flat, more size (now its almost as big as a Highlander). I put 148,000 flawless miles on my last RAV4, and I plan do the same on this one. I just wish they would come out with a hybrid. That would be the only reason that I would trade this one in before 150,000 miles. Great hob Toyota.

  • So so - 2006 Toyota RAV4

This SUV is great until you have to fill it up. It says it is suppose to get 20+ MPG, but I have only gotten 15- 17 MPG, a huge disappointment. If I knew that this was going to happen I probably would of gotten a Ford Escape. Though I do love the traction control like nothing else. On pure ice I have been able to keep control of this baby with no problem. It is absolutely amazing there. Pick up is okay, the driver seat takes a little getting used to feel wise.

  • 2006 RAV4 6Cyl Limited 4wd - 2006 Toyota RAV4

Nice idea, but needs a little refinement. 20 city/22 highway mileage with conservative driving. Better than the current CR-V (being replaced this fall), but seems as if it were rushed into production. Rear door hinged on the wrong side (designed for right-hand drive-Japan). Sunroof cannot be opened all the way without introducing a load booming noise (per the owners manual-not in the sales literature). This is a new model that does not have bluetooth capability. Overall, not bad, but much happier with my 4Runner (features and execution).
