The Rav is about 4 months old now, and were about ready to take it in for some warranty work. The low tire gage light will not go out, even though weve check them all inc. spare. The engine and interior vibrates when stopped and in gear. The car is pretty fragile, also. The rear bumper is damaged from a 2mph bump while backing the car out of the garage.

  • Didnt want to own it for long - 2006 Toyota RAV4

Well, its gone. Bought it for SUV room and all weather capability but it didnt deliver. And the reliability wasnt what I expected, either. Problems with rattles, stereo, air in brake lines, and loud road and wind noise all doomed the RAV. I did average 23 mpg, and the tires had plenty of tread after 31k, but the Toyota reputation didnt deliver. It does have good room inside and a comfortable back seat (no third row on Sport). Missing a lot of features that are standard on other cars like homelink, 5sp automatic, heated seats, good stereo, audio controls on steering wheel. It just failed to live up to the Toyota hype. Sorry.

  • My opinion - 2006 Toyota RAV4

All around fun SUV. Clock and radio readouts hard to see. Transmission shifts very different than I am used to, my other car is a benz. Body style is blahh. Radio with CD is above average.

  • Fun Factor - 2006 Toyota RAV4

I bought it second hand from US (1 year, 7,000 miles) and drive it in Europe, where RAV4s with 269 hp are very rare. Fun factor is acceleration and faces of the guys from $50.000 branch cars when they cannot get me on the road ;-) Its bigger when it comes to passenger & luggage space then EU model. Good. Very silent compared to cars I had (even Mercedes C-Class is louder inside). Fuel consumption relatively high, but when you check 270 hp competitors you will see, that actually RAV4 isnt fuel hungry really. Interior from stone ages, even 2010 model left it almost untouched. Lack of board computer (EUs have it). Relatively reliable only when properly serviced.

  • V6 4WD Gas Mileage is not very good - 2006 Toyota RAV4
    By -

Love the vehicle, but the 15-23 MPG I get, and that is driving conservatively, is not the 22-28 that the EPA stickered the vehicle as. Im disappointed because the mileage isnt much better than the Explorer I traded in and I wanted much better mileage.

  • Good Car!!... get the V6 - 2006 Toyota RAV4
    By -

Ive had this car for just over a month. NICE suspension, but lacking majorly on power especialy when the AC is on. I wish got the V6. I had a full load of passengers on a hot day with the AC blasting... no power at all. Other than that its pretty quiet, lots of room, and very easy to drive. Disclaimer on the "sport" version. It has good suspension, but if you really want it to be "sport" get the V6 haha!

  • I Expected More for a Limited - 2006 Toyota RAV4
    By -

Drove a Rav4 2005 sport that was more fun w/nicer console than 2006 and newer. It drove like a sport car. This model feels heavy, though its nice to drive/missing the same zip. I take very good care of my vehicles. Beware of those who complain & dont maintain. Paint job less than I expected. I live in the country. When I put in reverse about 30% of the time it chokes/knocks about in backing up. Rear Door should have been corrected years ago, opens backward would prefer up. Loyal to Toyota/ 4th Toyota, not enough bang for the buck compared to USA mfg.s w/luxury models and opts. Driving light lives up to the 24 MPG, however, previously all my Toyotas did better than they claimed.

High Cool Factor.RAV4 can keep up with cars costing $20/30K more. Blows by BMWs. Requires two hands on the wheel, it will get away from you if you stomp on it, almost feels like the engine will rip out Hauled a trailer to college for kid, couldn’t even tell it was there. RAV is jerky when shifting on its own, hills and passing, not always a smooth ride. True gas mileage is 18-20 in the city, 22-24 on highway. No one is getting 30MPG on the V6. After 7 months, squeaks are apparent as is engine noise Engine light comes on for oil change, dealer instructed me on how to reset myself. RAV is really good for 2+2kids, no more. RAV has blind spots. Max 4 hours driving trips/too uncomfortable

  • Traded Honda CR-V for RAV 4 - 2006 Toyota RAV4
    By -

I was looking for a new SUV which was slightly larger and had more power. The Honda had been fine, except on long trips fully loaded. The RAV 4 is very confortable, plenty of power and maintains reasonable gas mileage. This is the first Toyota I have owned, not a single problem, fit and finish very good, very happy in 10,000 miles of service.

  • Disappointed - 2006 Toyota RAV4
    By -

The RAV runs great, but rides like a light little toy, too much road noise, maybe the tires? The hood looks likes its going to fly off going down the freeway, my front bumper popped out a couple of times, cheap plastic clips that melted in the Arizona sun. The right mirror rattled so much they had to replace the whole assembly. My latest disappointment is that my air compressor just went out! Not a good thing in the middle of summer in AZ.
