RAV 4 6 cylinder - 2006 Toyota RAV4
By Happy driver - August 18 - 12:03 amIts a pleasure to drive, non-fatiguing. Its get up and go on the highway is great and city driving is very easy. Parking is easy - both parallel and horizontal. In one month I have put on 2000 miles. The cabin is very comfortable as is the ride. I ask myself why I waited so long to buy one. The mileage is way above what it was rated to be - 35 mpg on the open road. Very pleased and would recommend it to anyone.

Top Pick - 2006 Toyota RAV4
By Rav - August 15 - 4:33 amThis is the best compact SUV on the market; I have read a couple of reviews that complain about the ride and noise. You want a car get a car, you want a great SUV get a RAV4. Apples to apples this is the best all round SUV on the market, and YES it does ride rougher than a Camry, thatÂ’s why I like it. Lots of options, great power, excellent gas mileage, wish it came in a manual transmission. Some of the plastics inside can scar a little easily. Look at the others and you come back, they may be a little cheaper however, with Toyotas resale this car will cost you much less.

Not perfect, but best of the field - 2006 Toyota RAV4
By JMcE - August 2 - 9:56 amI have 15,000 km on this vehicle and it is used for open road travel (little commuting) and some gravel roads. Overall, this is an excellent performing vehicle. The 5-speed auto is seamless and shifts when it should. The V6 really smokes when you need it. I dont need a fast vehicle, but the power is a safety advantage when passing on congested 2-lane highways. Ample room in the interior and the fold-down rear seats are essential for persons carrying camping gear, sports equipment (diving), or toting boxes from place-to- place. Sports model seems v. secure, even when buffeted by strong cross winds on a hwy. It is roomier than a Honda CRV, Subaru and Jeep Liberty. Test drive one!

UNRELIABLE - 2006 Toyota RAV4
By MIKE - July 25 - 6:43 pmUnreliable for the long run. Had several warranty repairs, rear shock absorbers, water pump, steering shaft. Then after 60000 kms no support from Toyota Canada. Try and do repairs through the dealers and end up paying 2 times the price on parts alone.

Great - 2006 Toyota RAV4
By slk - July 16 - 11:43 amI love my RAV. It has great get up and go. I have had little problems on the recent snow and ice ( usually when I floor it on the ice ) The step kids friends think it is cool. No problems whatsoever. I reset the maintence light myself. The owners manual tells you how to do it. Backseat is a little crowded with a carseat in it.

A real value, and fun to boot - 2006 Toyota RAV4
By Doug B - June 26 - 2:36 pmFinally picked up my new base 2006 RAV4, 4x4 with the 4 cylinder engine. Very happy with the gorgeous modern interior, nice exterior lines. The 4 cylinder is very strong. I traded in a 98 Ford Explorer with the 4 liter 6, and the RAV4 has nothing to be embarassed about. I took a lot of guff from the ladies at work about choosing a "cute" SUV, but I have to admit that its a very pretty car. Couldnt be happier. Ill supplement if possible after about a month.

Love it! - 2006 Toyota RAV4
By Lauri - June 6 - 6:20 amI drive to work about 25 miles back and forth and once a month I will drive out of town (250 miles). The ride is very smooth and comfortable. I love everything in this car. I have nothing to complain. The space is incredible! I really love the hidden compartment in the back! I can carry three mtn bikes in the suv with three people in it and the full size cooler. The gas mileage is GREAT!! I have driven other suvs before and it is all right. Nothing can beat 2006 Rav4. My mother drives the Lexus RX 330 and she mentioned that she loves my car better than hers. ;)

steeringwheel clunking - 2006 Toyota RAV4
By mayson - May 30 - 2:50 amI have enjoyed the vehicle for 4 years. We take it to the Eastern Sierras for trout fishing and can take the steep grades with ease with the V6. The only problem that I have encountered is the steering wheel clunking on slow turns. The steering knuckle was replaced under warranty at approximately 15,000 miles. Now at 29,000 miles it is clunking again on the replaced unit. There is definitely a design flaw by Toyota and they need to own up to it. I will be taking it in for servicing and demand a replacement even if it is over 36 months warranty time limit.

Amazing SUV - 2006 Toyota RAV4
By Winston Chia - May 12 - 12:33 amSUV, Sports car, Practical Hauler, Amazing snow vehicle all wrapped up in one package. That is what the RAV4 Sport does and does very well. Have not had one single problem since I bought it.

Poor Design - 2006 Toyota RAV4
By Rear hatch design - May 9 - 3:06 pmAfter driving this Rav4 Limited for 32000 miles I recently noticed that when it rains all my stuff in the rear compartment gets wet when the door is opened. Also there is no rear dome light. The light was put in the door which when open shines the light away from the compartment. A representative said it was a bad design and suggested I switch to a Highlander. Toyota should reconsider this rear hatch design. Honda has with its CR-V. I love everything else about the car. Please to Toyota make some changes. At least figure out a way I can add on a dome light.
