  • Acceleration problem - 2006 Toyota RAV4
    By -

Theres a problem in acceleration delay/throttle lag that Toyota should be aware of by now. Since taking delivery JAN06, weve experienced continual erratic acceleration problems. These are significant delays - from 3-6 seconds - in delivering forward speed from either rolling starts or dead stops and is most evident when turning corners or going up hills. The delay is followed by a sudden delivery of power, then the car lurches forward with no change in pressure on the accelerator. When attempting to pass at highway speeds, after the delay it goes into passing gear and immediately drops back out. All conditions when this happens can be dangerous. I have reported to NHTSA. Dealer is no help.

  • Jiggle all the way - 2006 Toyota RAV4

Purchased my Rav in June 06. At the time, I too was very excited about my new car as are many of the posters for the new 08 model. After almost a year and a half am ready to trade it in. The fit and finish are very good. Reliability has been excellent. My main problem is the ride. It seems that I can feel every crack in the road. Going over bumbs in the road is torture. The ride is harsh to put it mildly. I traded a Subaru Outback for the Rav, the Subies ride was much better than the Ravs.

  • Great Outdoor/Commuter Vehicle - 2006 Toyota RAV4

I bought this car to replace my 15-year-old Camry. I like to go on hiking trips, and this thing has the suspension and the room to get me where I want to go. Its also a great commuter car, handles well in traffic, takes potholes with aplomb. No significant problems, great mileage for an SUV. Being tall, I enjoy not having to duck my head when getting in and out. I have driven this car over deeply-rutted, sandy and rocky dirt roads with ease, and have slept in the back during a 3-week camping trip. I was thinking about a pickup truck, but now I really dont think I need one - this car has gotten me to all the trailheads I have wanted to get to. After 27,000 miles I couldnt be more pleased.

  • Oh, what a feeling - 2006 Toyota RAV4
    By -

My first Rav4 was a 99 - a fun, economical, dependable car. Was considering a Highlander until the 06 V6 Rav4 came out. Im so glad I waited. Ive only had the vehicle a few weeks, but I love it. The powered drivers seat is outstanding- its so comfortable. It rides like an Avalon. Sound system is excellent. Its so spacious and classy thats its like driving a much more expensive vehicle. The color is Everglade and its gorgeous!

  • Another Home Run - 2006 Toyota RAV4

My first SUV was narrowed down to Infiniti FX35, Nissan Murano and Subaru Tribeca. Although the other 3 were out of my league pricewise was settling down to going with Pontiac Torrent, but with poor GM reliabilty on 3.4 engine and huge Red flag on it now built in China and that companies lack of customer support was simply overwhelmed when I drove the new RAV4. A very pleasant surprise and although more expensive than in 2005, well worth the extra bucks. Build quality is exceptional as well as ride and a peppy 3.5 Ltr V6 that has ooomph. I felt however that options were very limited and to get a sunroof had to go with Limited, oh well cant have everything.

  • RAV4 Review - 2006 Toyota RAV4

The most uncomfortable vehicle Ive ever owned. Seats are very hard. Road noise is so high the music must be loud and passengers cannot talk on cells phones when driving on the highway. Wind in the cab also makes it impossible to cruise with the windows down. One feature I like is the braking system. Very nice.

  • Hard to beat - 2006 Toyota RAV4

Big change from the 1998, manual 5 speed RAV4 with a lawn mower engine that couldnt even get out of the way of it self. Ive driven it 1,000 miles and so far am very pleased

  • All I expected and more - 2006 Toyota RAV4
    By -

After only two weeks, I love it. Gas mileage about as expected for stop and go - about 23mpg. This is my first 4-cyl, but no problems getting on the highway, etc. More leg room in the second row than my previous car. Easy to park and great to look at. Cant wait to take it on a trip.

  • REDESIGNED 2006 RAV4 ROCKS - 2006 Toyota RAV4

Owned 99 4Runner which I loved - wanted something smaller that was roomy enough for surfboards that had better gas mileage. I COULDNT BE HAPPIER WITH MY PURCHASE!!! Better mileage, smoother ride (camry chasis), more HP... quality of vehicle is top shelf! Back seats come down easily, storage and access throughout vehicle grade A. Hats off to Toyota... I get compliments on the vehicle all the time...
