This Year's Model Updates:

The 2007 Toyota Prius lineup gets a little racier, as Toyota adds the Prius Touring model, which has a sport-tuned suspension, 16-inch alloy wheels, foglamps, xenon headlights and a larger rear lip spoiler. The other notable change for 2007 is that the original Toyota hybrid car now comes standard with front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags.

Pros:
  • Outstanding gas mileage, low emissions, generous amount of interior room, easy to maneuver in tight spaces, excellent build quality, reasonable price.
Cons:

I have really enjoyed my experience with the Hybrid. It gets so much attention. Even other owners stop to chat about how much fun it is to drive. I went back to the dealership and hugged my salesman. I told him that the first week I owned it I counted over 50 miles to the gallon. I couldnt believe it. Stopping at red lights used to really bother me because I thought that I was wasting so much gas and now when the electricity kicks in it is no problem. I just sit and laugh at the poor guys out there losing money. I also find that it can be so quiet. I really like the insturment panel that offers so many choices. Especially the one for climate. I use that continually.

I have no complaints about this car. I gave up a Mini Cooper, my dream car, after 2 1/2 years due to the high maintenance cost (I drive almost 100 miles a day and high performance tires are expensive and dont last). Since I gave up the dream car I went for highest MPG. After the first test drive I thought it felt like driving the space shuttle. However, it grew on me and I am happy with my decision to trade.

I have almost 600 miles on it and I have never had so much fun driving a car I love the constant gas status it makes driving efficiently fun. I was afraid the Bluetooth would be as bad as it is on many new cars but the sound is great and the auto linking is priceless. Also never having to use a key to lock the car unlock or start it is the coolest. The car has more power in take off then my Corolla did too.

  • So glad I bought this car! - 2007 Toyota Prius

I LOVE this car. Had it for over a week now, and its averaging around 37 MPG. Im in WI and weve had a lot of snow lately - it handled the slippery roads VERY well. No complaints. I have the extra stability control feature which may help for that as well. Drives very smoothly, pick-up from a stop is pretty decent. This car is so quiet sometimes you can hardly tell its running. The "Power" button just floors me, so space age! Turning it on and shifting takes some getting used. Eventually you stop reaching for the key in the ignition. ;) Love the SmartKey feature. But be warned that a replacement key is $400.

I just brought my Prius 3 weeks ago. We took a trip to Houston and I went 227 miles before the 1st fuel block moved. I went 527 miles and I still had a little over half a tank. I went around 747 miles before I put more gas in the car because we were on our way back home from our weekend trip and wanted to make sure we had gas going on the back roads. I was very impressed with the mileage. The seats comfort was okay I moved around a little to get comfortable and I am 6"1. My husband had plenty of room. It said we average 54.2 miles while on that trip i tried to stay around 65 miles per hour. I am enjoying the prius. I traded in my 07 Yaris for safety reasons (smaller car). Glad I did it!

  • My 2007 Touring Prius - 2007 Toyota Prius

I got my 2007 Prius nicely discounted with around 50,000 miles. Ive had it a month, and so far so good. Millage ranges in the mid 40s, about the same city/highway. Also, unlike the horror stories I was reading about the traction control, she ran fine through the worst of two snowstorms. On hills, the car does struggle when climbing, and the car does move a bit in high winds, drawbacks far outweighed by its efficiency, and its maneuverability, and its handling in almost all conditions. As a parting note, the space age exterior design is sleek, sporty, and unique.

The Prius has turned out more than I expected. It is light and swift, and its smooth transitions between electric and fuel motors makes it really fun to drive, and the energy monitor makes it interesting to see how the car works. The mileage it gets is wonderful, with my initial tank at about 48 mpg to my 3rd tank at about 57 mpg, and thats highway/surface street combo driving. With the current gas prices, this car is worth every penny. People complained about the seat, but I havent noticed it. Perhaps on longer trips? So if you are considering a hybrid at all, you wont be disappointed.

I love driving this car. It gets great mileage between 41 and 49 mpg. Its cargo room is enourmous. It can carry four adults comfortably over a long distance. Its ride is nice and people definitely notice it. No one is not impressed with it once introduced to it. Its hard to imagine going back to conventional driving.

  • Prius is a good car choice! - 2007 Toyota Prius

I practically live in my vehicle during the week as I drive quite a bit as a part of my job. Having driving a Honda Insight for a year and being very happy with its performance I looked a the Prius for better comfort and I must say I got it. While gas mileage is not as good (at about 53 avg) as the Insight (60.5 avg)I have been very pleased with the smooth and quiet ride. The many accessories like Blue Tooth for my cell phone, iPod speaker connnection, and excellent stereo system performance have met all my exacting expectations. The Touring Edition suspension and beefy tires have performed well for this tall car by keeping it flat when negotiating the tight turns on the roads I travel.
