This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2005 Toyota Prius, a rear wiper is now standard, the sun visor material has been changed from vinyl to fabric, and the Smart Entry and Start system has been renamed the Smart Key System.

Pros:
  • Outstanding mileage, ultralow emissions, generous amount of interior room, hatchback utility, reasonable price, excellent build quality.
Cons:
  • Less power than other midsize sedans, some confusing controls, real-world driving results in lower mileage than the window sticker suggests.

Well it has been almost a month and over 1000 miles. My main concern is the drastic difference in MPG. I am getting low 40s a significant deviation from the touted 51/60. Acceleration off the line is lousy, but when you want to pass on the freeway you can easily, even up hills. Regarding the exterior it would be nice if the antenna wasnt sticking up like gazelle with only one horn. It would make putting a car cover on a nightmare. Inside, there is legroom galore. Seating for 5 and cupholders for 4 is a bit odd, but oh well. It would be nice if you could sit two in the back with the small side folded down but no.

I love this car. It is wonderfully balanced and is a pleasure to drive mountain roads. I am only sorry leather was not an option when I bought my car. My family borrows it when they have a trip of more than 50 miles to go on. My son liked mine so much he went and bought an 06 model. The GPS is easy to use, the bluetooth option works like a charm so I am now hands free. I work for myself so my car is my office and I couldnt have bought a better car for my lifestyle.

I love my Prius. Could have more luxury features. I get stopped all the time and people tell me its beautiful. Gas mileage is incredible. I pay with a $20 and get change back!!! You get better mileage in city driving than country or highway. I get a new car approximately every two years and cant wait to see what theyve added on my next Prius. Roomy inside and I travel with two children. Trunk space is more than expected. Ride is nice, could be a little smoother. Handles well and doesnt hesitate when turning into traffic. Has great extra features like the rear view mirror auto dim at night and the day/ night mode for the navigational screen. I like the lower emmisions.

This is the first "new" car weve ever purchased, and it was well worth the (six-week) wait. Driving this Prius makes you feel young again, hip, and enviromental -- all at the same time! Surely, Toyota neednt continue to take "a loss" on the cost of the technology in this baby. I wouldve paid a lot more and waited longer, had I known what a gem this would be!

  • The best car so far. - 2005 Toyota Prius

Handles very nicely. The Prius easily gets 50 miles per gallon, meaning it can go for more than 500 miles before you need to refuel. Slick aerodynamic design and HID headlights add to the attractivness of the car.

This is the second prius Ive bought. I got one for my mom two months ago and I think Ive spoiled her. The car is unbelievably quiet, and it handled the recent thunderstorms and winds in Los Angeles like it had four wheel drive. And, this car is clean. The other morning I sat on the 405 parking lot watching SUVs spew exhaust fumes, while my engine wasnt even running. The rear area of the car is perfect for taking the dogs to the dog park and hauling groceries. As for pickup, it has reasonably good acceleration, and Im still getting 50 miles to the gallon. The Prius is the real deal and with all the extras driving is fun again.

Sleek and fun to drive. Average 49 mpg city and 53 highway. Multi-function display is great as well as the nearly heads up display. Upgraded sound system is very good. Ride is smooth and quiet with only noise being tire noise. No wind noise at all under 75mph

  • My Experience With My Prius - 2005 Toyota Prius

With the price of gasoline right now, I feel that I have made a good choice with purchasing my Prius. I get excellent gas mileage and am impressed with its design. I get 43 miles per gallon in town and 51 miles per gallon on the road. People who have never seen a Prius before are really impressed with the keyless entry and ignition system. They are also cant get over not hearing the engine running when the batteries are powering the car.

I find my Prius to have plenty of power when I need it. I enjoy watching the mileage indicator hovering around 50 mpg just driving around. I sometimes hit 58 mpg on the highway. I really appreciate that I only fill it up once every two weeks.

Really have fun driving this Prius. Bought it in CA and drove it to TX. It handles like a dream. Get remarks on how good-looking car is and how quiet it is all the time. Got to be careful when driving in parking lots it is so quiet. Best car I ever had, and I’ve owned several.
