For the 2005 Toyota Prius, a rear wiper is now standard, the sun visor material has been changed from vinyl to fabric, and the Smart Entry and Start system has been renamed the Smart Key System.
- Outstanding mileage, ultralow emissions, generous amount of interior room, hatchback utility, reasonable price, excellent build quality.
- Less power than other midsize sedans, some confusing controls, real-world driving results in lower mileage than the window sticker suggests.

After 3 yrs - we bought a second Prius - 2005 Toyota Prius
By sergelbergeron - September 30 - 12:36 amWe have had our 2005 Prius for over 3 years now and it performs just like new. We bought another one - a 2008 package 5 in October and they both ride the same even though the 2005 has 50,000 miles. I live in Canada and in the winter it is also a charm. Absolutely no problem with battery. Starts at -40 degrees, etc. It is an excellent vehicle.

Less dependency on oil imports - 2005 Toyota Prius

Versitle with the fold down seats and hatchback, room for four adults, comfortably, and did I mention the emissions rating? It is a car for the times and when more hybrids hit the market, the Middle East will have less of a strangle hold on our economy.

By JMo - September 14 - 12:50 amI love everything about this car but 1 thing. Everything scratches / stains really easily. My pin strip is pealing off a little but toyota will fix it for free. I have a couple scratches in my glove box already and the floor mats soak up dirt like no tomorrow. I can over look it though because other than that it is completely outstanding!

Future Technology NOW - 2005 Toyota Prius
By Charles Suitt - August 12 - 7:30 pmSurprising performance for an Hybrid. Driver controls take awhile to learn but they become instinctive. Fuel economy nearly twice that of comparable hatchback sedans. Luggage room excellent and very flexible. Very well engineered technology, particularly the interface between the internal combustion engine and electric motor. The Navigation system works fairly well, although verbal requests frequently result in unexpected responses.

We also found it to have enough power to get us up and down mountains without having to slow down. Its a "Keeper" as far as were concerned.

By Anne - August 6 - 1:46 amWhile fuel economy has always been a priority to us, weve never before found this kind of fuel economy (WOW!), convenience and comfort (luxury for us), AND "sports car look/feel" along with a comfortable "get-in and get-out" (for our back ease). All of this, plus the "get up and go without hesitation" when needed...a perfect car in our book!!
