Overview & Reviews
A Sport trim level debuts and revised SAE testing procedures have resulted in reductions in the stated horsepower and torque ratings, though actual output is unchanged.
- Rides and handles like a Camry, smooth V6 engine, fuel-efficient four-cylinder, lots of standard safety features, high crash-test scores.
- Poor access to optional third-row seat, bland personality.

Car to keep into retirement - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By Barry - February 9 - 12:03 pmAfter Lexus and Infiniti sedans, I choose a Highlander to keep when I retire in 5 years. Roomy, comfortable, great for trips to Home Depot. Also carries bikes and scuba gear. Carries a lot yet handles much better than our Jeep. Love the GPS. Good audio, seats, and climate. Good layout and controls. Wish it got better gas mileage.

2006 Hylander - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By Brown - September 16 - 10:56 amWe traded a 2003 Mazda Tribute after several years of relaiable service. We decided to test drive the Highlander. After driving this vehicle we were very pleased with the added space and the refinements, particularly with the quietness of the cabin and the smoothness of the ride. The transmission shifts very smoothly. It is truly an enjoyable vehicle to drive and I would recommend to anyone looking for a quality.

Love the ride - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By Jas - August 10 - 1:23 amAfter driving a toyota pickup for many years, my last one being 04 four door prerunner, I decided I needed a vehicle that was like an suv but not that big and good on gas. Tada, the sport highlander caught my eye. After doing research and a test drive in the 3.3 6 cyl I was sold. The comfort, roominess and power are incredible. But the first thing I did was change out the factory goodyears 225/65r17 with michelin cross terrain 245s and the ride got even better. Highly recommend. Happy Highlander Owner.

Great vehicle; legendary Toyota quality - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By Beachsixpack - July 22 - 11:33 pmExcellent vehicle. Love the nav, leather seats, climate control, sunroof, nothing but good things to say. Gas mileage could be better, average 23-25 highway, about 20 around town.

Smooth riding SUV - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By Joe - May 1 - 12:43 amHad my Highlander for about a month and have not been disappointed. Rides almost as smooth as my Acura. Engine shifts effortlessly, very quiet, rides as if you are in a luxury car with SUV capabilities. Great engineering with amazing handling. Owned 3 other SUVs with none of them either close in design or quality.

The best car yet! - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By T.M - March 22 - 12:43 amThe Highlander has the "get up and go" I need for the mountain roads. The interior is "homey" and comfortable. With a quiet engine, you feel as if you are floating on the road. Traction is great!! Safety features that outweigh anything else I have owned!! A prevous owner of like vehicles, the Highlander is by far the best SUV I have owned.

Great Build Quality But... - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By gettomedicss - January 8 - 1:13 pmIt feels solid, secure and safe. I`m 6ft tall, the seats are too short and gives me no thigh support. Im only getting 16-18 mpg with mostly highway miles and the cup holders are placed too far back.
