  • Love My Car - 2006 Toyota Highlander

Purchased new in September of 2006 and have loved it from day one. Would highly recommend it.

  • Defective cylinder head bolt threads - 2006 Toyota Highlander

We purchased this as a new vehicle and have been very pleased with it until today. We found out that we have a leak that can only be fixed by a $5000 bandaide that Toyota has defined in Toyotas techincal bulletin T-SB-0015-11. The bolt holes in the cylinder block must be tapped to install an insert to hold new bolts. We now have to find a way to replace this vehicle! So much for Toyota!

  • My 2nd HL-"there can be more than one" - 2006 Toyota Highlander

When it was time to replace another car and after exhaustive research we bought our second Highlander. We did so because of the latest info out there about 06 but also due to the fact of having one for the last four years that still looks brand new despite living with four teenagers. They are reliable, get decent gas mileage, responds well in many different driving conditions and has great leg room for our tall family.

  • Great But Could Be Better - 2006 Toyota Highlander

I love my Highlander! It is a great vehicle to drive. Comfortable seats. Music is good but should have more speakers in back. Needs air for back also. One of my biggest upsets is the paint job. The paint gets scratched very easy, too easy - Im not happy about that. She has a beautiful purr.

  • Great SUV - 2006 Toyota Highlander

While weve only owned our new HL for a few days, we have fallen instantly in love with it. Its a great mid- size SUV. We opted for the FWD 4-cyl for fuel economy reasons and I have a 4x4 if needed. Its very comfortable, the 4-cyl provide adequate power and fairly quiet on the road. So far, no complaints.

  • The first 1500 miles. - 2006 Toyota Highlander
    By -

We purchased a Toyota Highlander the last week of June, 2006. We got the base model with the 2.4L 4-cyl. engine, which has very good performance. We have no problems with highway driving or acceleration. I havent owned it long enough to give hard mileage estimates, but it looks like the 22/27 or so on the sticker is accurate with 87 octane. The backseat is VERY roomy. The ride is terrific when compared to other SUVs in this segment, being based on the Camry. Theres no rollover feeling at all when changing lanes at highway speeds. The turning radius is incredibly small for its size. Being based on a Camry, I expect to own this car for at least 150,000 miles.

  • MY WIFES HIGHLANDER - 2006 Toyota Highlander
    By -

We were surprised to see how much comfort and room the Highlander has. This is a for sure winner for us as a family car and long trips. I feel we made a wise decision on being able to save gas over other SUVs. We were also surprised to find that we were able to get this mini-SUV with a lot of optional equipment, including a dvd/tv/game flip-down sys. And perma plate for a low price verses the others. Again this vehicle rides smooth, quiet and comfortable. Thanks Toyota. From now on you’re our first choice. Thanks for all those air bags.

  • My first new car - 2006 Toyota Highlander
    By -

Just purchased a 2006, V6, 4wd, 3rd Row. Bought it to augment my 1991 Toyota Corolla sedan (200k, few problems). This is my first new car and love it. Great power, smooth ride, and more room than I will probably use. Bought mostly because of brand loyalty. Looked at competitors. Bought the Highlander.

  • Transmission SUCKS!! Youve been warned - 2006 Toyota Highlander
    By -

This car has shuddered while accellerating since we bought it and on our road trip has us stranded now in Virginia because the transmission is messing up. The car surges forward and tries to drop gears while accelerating. The car jerks very hard and comes to a complete stop in the highway! Ive seen many reviews saying they have the same problem!! Im missing college and work and cant afford this fix and according to reviews it is a widespread problem with this particular vehicle.
