Overview & Reviews
A Sport trim level debuts and revised SAE testing procedures have resulted in reductions in the stated horsepower and torque ratings, though actual output is unchanged.
- Rides and handles like a Camry, smooth V6 engine, fuel-efficient four-cylinder, lots of standard safety features, high crash-test scores.
- Poor access to optional third-row seat, bland personality.

Wonderful Car - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By ToyLuv - June 20 - 3:43 amIt has been more than 2 years since we purchased this SUV and still totally happy with it. No problems to report to date and still runs just like it did when new. More refined and quieter than our previous Acura MDX. Not to mention a lot better on gas. It gets 22 mpg in mixed driving the Acura only got 16 mpg. Only thing I want more is the Lexus RXs styling, maybe in a few years I will trade it in, but for now still happily motoring even after 34k miles.

What a feeling-Toyota - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By Carolyn - May 14 - 1:20 amWent from the 03 RAV4 to the 06 highlander needing a larger SUV-love the highlander almost as much as the RAV. Highlander very quiet, comfortable, responsive steering, powerful engine, gas mileage could be a little better but ok considering its AWD, no problems so far, had for 3 yrs. Looking to downsize so Im going back to the RAV4.

Most boring & best vehicle I have owned - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By Andy S. - November 12 - 1:06 pmOur Highlander has been nothing but flawless. Not a single warranty issue and it does an excellent job as our family vehicle. The only thing I would have done different was not get the 3rd row seat. It was never used once in the almost 4 years I have owned it. Also, if you want to buy a first generation Highlander, I highly recommend getting a 2005-2007 model. This was after the Minor Model change and the interior is much better than the 2004 and earlier models.

Great SUV - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By Jay in NC - November 8 - 9:00 amThis is a great driving SUV! It has a quiet ride on the highway, and it has all the creature comforts I need. The center console is easy to manage. It offers plenty of room for 5 passengers and the rear storage space is more than ample. I was pleasantly suprised by the acceleration of the 4 cylinder engine. I am very pleased with my Highlander.

Still love it 3 yrs later! - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By toyotalover - August 6 - 4:23 pmAlways wanted a Toyota and I love driving it now as much as I did at first. Always dependable, no problems whatsoever. I like the tight steering, low turning radius... drives like a car. Easy to handle, even when loaded with weight. 4 cyl. is plenty of power for me. Big enough for my 62 stocky husband. I get about 20-22 MPG mixed city/hwy driving... wish it was more, but hey, I cant complain. I love this vehicle.

2006 Highlander Limited - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By MDellapenn - July 9 - 4:06 amI love my Highlander Limited, it is a pleasure to drive and easy to handle. The only thing I do not like is the fact it has no trim on the exterior, nothing to break the color up. The comfort on the inside is like driving your living room recliner around. It is great and I love my Highlander.

Still Enjoying My HL After 2 Years! - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By Mercy58 - June 9 - 7:00 amBought my Highlander after test driving a Sienna; found the HL much easier to handle (I have a bad arm, so thats important to me). First Toyota, very pleased; just had 30,000 mile service done with no problems. It drives very well in the snow. Rides great after replacing original tires with good quality Michelins. I find it very easy to maneuver and visibility is good. Paint does scratch easily under door handles. Tranny hesitates a bit shifting down when turning into my steep uphill drive. 3rd row seat okay for children; too small for most adults. Overall Im very happy with my HL!

Quiet Ride - 2006 Toyota Highlander
By Sue - May 23 - 5:40 amThis is the best car I have purchased. It is a quiet and smooth ride. Plenty of room inside and adults in the back seat are comfortable. Previous SUV I owned the back seat was flat and uncomfortable for adults. Gas mileage is good compared to other SUVs. Would highly recommend this SUV.
