This Year's Model Updates:

A sporty new XRS model debuts boasting a 170-horsepower engine and a sport-tuned suspension. Additionally, all Corollas receive a restyled front fascia and rear taillights. The LE model now has Lexus-like Optitron instrumentation, along with a cloth-trimmed center console and sun visors. Side curtain airbags, stability control and a JBL audio system are all new options.

Pros:
  • Refined and roomy interior, excellent gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, spunky XRS model, illustrious reliability record.
Cons:
  • Awkward driver-seat position, bland personality, gets pricey when even basic features are desired, sedan body style only.

  • Great car - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I purchased the car new two years ago and have put 55,000 miles on it. The car is equipped with the 6 disc CD player and sunroof. Mechanically, the car is flawless. It has not been in the shop once, no rattles, adjustments or repairs. Longest road trip was 8 hrs - this is not a luxury sedan but not too bad (Im 6). I drive in Texas and the air cond. keeps up fine in 100+ degree summer days. I commute about 100 hwy miles a day roundtrip and get 33-34 mpg. Maxed at 36 mpg on the 8 hr roadtrip (upper 90s temp and air on the whole way). The only thing I would change is adding a telescoping steering wheel, the driving position is awkward.

  • Perfect "Luxury" Car - 2005 Toyota Corolla

When I say Luxury, I mean Affordable. The car looks like a million bucks, yet costs around 16k. I love it, and Im a college student. Im only averaging 30 miles to the gallon, wish it was better. Much better buy than the Echo, which seems impossible to find anywhere. I love the wood trim, wish that xmradio was installed from the factory, but it was much cheaper, im sure to install it myself. The cabin gets some wind noise on the expressway but Ive been in many worse cars. I tell you what, this 05 corolla has made me a Toyota buyer for life. Vehicles are the worst investment you can make, but Toyota helps you minimise that by great quality, and keeping its value much longer.Buy it.

  • Expensive little car for what you get - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I have owned this car for 11 months & have had no engine reliability issues. I began having problems with the moonroof sliding shade at only 5000 miles. It would rattle all the time! It took 2 trips to the dealer & a whole new sunshade to fix it. A month later the moonroof began grinding when tilting it up so that also had to be repaired. Moonroof aside, I really enjoy this car. Decent gas mileage, incredibly reliable, & good looking. It has the look of a more upscale car from the outside & the interior is simple yet sophisticated.

  • Great package - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I have a 2005 manual CE with C Package (canadian model). Comes with AC, power package, cruise and remote door locks. Roomy for its size, large doors and high seats and driving position are a plus. Feels solid on the road and the body is tight. This is important, since montreal and quebec probably have the worst roads and climate in north america. The engine is peppy and willing, even at low revs, while delivering superior fuel economy. Steering and suspension are both firm, but not overly so, and offer good control. The interior is well designed with very good controls. Radio/CD is big and simple to operate. Indigo blue ext. with grey int. is a good mix. Great package for the price

  • Count On It! - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Purchased new with a 5 speed. Never have had it back to the dealership with any problems. Has enough stuff to get up to freeway speed safely (with some to spare). Road noise noticeable on chip- seal surfaces, but otherwise quite good. Put brakes on @ about 160,000 miles. Have never had to align vehicle and tires still wear evenly. I change oil/filter regularly (about every 5,000 miles) and dont use more than a 1/2 quart between changes. Will pass 200,000 miles this week. My driving is 70/30 freeway/city and I consistently get 35 to 37 mpg. Have gotten as high as 42.5 mpg on long trips. The epitome of function over style. Will buy another one after I have 300,000 miles on this one

  • 2005 Corolla S - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Good acceleration, tight steering, good cornering, excellent gas mileage, and Toyota quality , all for less than $15K. Whats not to like? Did I mention HUGE trunk space? I also dont understand the gripes about lack of power- this thing accelerates well even at highway speeds and 5th gear. Is it a sports car- no. Is it a very fun to drive econo car- very much yes!

  • Satisfied - 2005 Toyota Corolla

With 137,000 miles I have yet to make any repairs. My mechanic told me to keep it well serviced which I have been doing, and it will last me almost for ever. Three days ago it was badly damaged when some one ran into the side. I felt like crying. The car has been very reliable and so good on gas especially since I do so much driving. If it cannot be fixed I will definately be getting another Corolla. It has served me well so far. If I was given the opportunity to change to another car I would not. I love my Corolla.

  • Nice little car - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I love my 2005 Corolla. the only complaint I have is that the front floorboard is not flat. There is a raised area in front of the seat. It makes it uncomfortable to place your feet on the floor. My wife states that since the floor board is not flat all the way acroos it hurts her hip and left foot (passenger side). Bad design. Otherwise the car is wonderful.

I love my car.It has a great body and I love the features like spoiler, alloy wheels, leather steering wheel, beautiful color (indigo ink)and I like the fuel economy. It could be better or worse but I am not complaining.I do think they should improve on the interior space.I also think they could improve on the pick-up speed of the car.It moves kinda slow but it is ok once you get going. All in all I love this car and would reccommend it to anyone.

  • So far, so good - 2005 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I bought this car based on its exceptional reliability. Hopefully, it will live up to that reputation over the next several years. The Corolla has an uncomfortable driving position, but handles well. Controls are logically placed and easy to see. Very smooth, shifting transmission.
