This Year's Model Updates:

A sporty new XRS model debuts boasting a 170-horsepower engine and a sport-tuned suspension. Additionally, all Corollas receive a restyled front fascia and rear taillights. The LE model now has Lexus-like Optitron instrumentation, along with a cloth-trimmed center console and sun visors. Side curtain airbags, stability control and a JBL audio system are all new options.

Pros:
  • Refined and roomy interior, excellent gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, spunky XRS model, illustrious reliability record.
Cons:
  • Awkward driver-seat position, bland personality, gets pricey when even basic features are desired, sedan body style only.

  • Powerful little car - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Its my mothers car but I drive it every now and then to make sure all is fine. It has been very dependable, never in the shop for anything except brake pads, battery and regular maintenance. Did have problem with weather strip around the front doors. The dealer replaced them under warranty and the whistling noise went away. Every time I drive it, Im amazed by the power it gives. Merging onto freeway is a breeze and the pick up from stop is also great for 1.8L. This is the 3rd Corolla in the family. Cant beat the overall value.

  • Best Car I Ever Owned - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I have always owned Chrysler products. This the first Toyota Ive ever owned but it will not be the last. Have not one problem with it other than the routine oil changes it has never been in the shop. The only complant I have is that it lacks a little power when the AC is on and no remote trunk release with keyless entry.

  • Needs more power but good on gas - 2005 Toyota Corolla

  • XRS is worth it - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I had purchased a Matrix XR...always wishing I had a Matrix XRS. I couldnt find one when I started looking again so I got the Corolla XRS and am loving it. Ive put 15000 miles on it in the last year. I purchased snow tires for winter as the summer rated tires suck in the snow and cold we have in Minnesota.

  • Things i dont like about this car - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Great little car but expensvie like $16,500 with tax. Love the grey two tone dash interior. Automatic could be the best ever and engine magic. Toyota suspension plain suck and should be reworked including the TACOMA. Engine light has come on both vehicles could be bad gas. After driving my 85bmw 325 its well not as good as that 80s car lol.

  • Toyota-the way to go but... - 2005 Toyota Corolla
    By -

This is my third toyota. My first was the 2000 echo, my second is the 2001 4Runner and the 2005 is my third. I bought the corolla for its great mileage and ofcourse, you cant go wrong with a toyota! Other not favorite features include no Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, etc displays on your dashboard. The body is very weak. Someone hit my car when parked and the bumper caved in and I lost some plastic piece that goes where a light would be on a normal car. Now theres a bare hole. I love toyota but it could use improving. I think my echo had a better interior - sad.

  • Much better than 2004 - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I drove several 2004 Corollas earlier this year - was not impressed. The 2005 made up for the weaknesses. Its as if Toyota read my mind.

  • Amazingly Reliable But Bland - 2005 Toyota Corolla
    By -

This is my first Japanese car. I became disgusted with the past 3 gm cars I have owned. This car changed my view on Asian cars, I used to think they were junk. This car proved me wrong. Purchased used in 2007 with 15,000 miles it now has 63,000 miles with ZERO issues. The only things it needed were tires, brakes, and oil changes. Not by any means an exciting car, if your looking for reliability and economy this is your car, if you are looking for excitement you will be bored of this car after a short while. Overall its a great commuter car for the person who just wants to get from point A to B.Its has fairly peppy acceleration for its class of vehicle. This car is a great value for the money.

Great looking car, and great fuel economy. Good resale value and build quality very trust worthy. Only gripe is that on highway driving at about 75mph and higher there is a wierd buzzing sound coming from in my dash sounds like a bee traped in there very annoying, I plan on having it looked at. Oh yeah and if you go over 45 mph and put your back windows down it sounds like a helicopter is landing on your roof, kinda neat in away.

  • All good at first - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Me and my car have a love hate relationship. I love the design and the way it drives. It is very easy to get around in. I bought my car in 06 it had 10,000 miles on it but looked brand new, In June of 08 the fuel pump went out (new fuel pump cost 798.00), May of 09 cylinder coil went out replaced and it still isnt running right. They just dont make Toyota like they use to.
