This Year's Model Updates:

One of America's favorite cars is all new this year. Design goals for the 2002 Toyota Camry included larger interior packaging, reduced noise, more advanced safety features, better driving dynamics and, of course, a new standard of value.

Pros:
  • Roomy, powerful engines, plenty of safety and luxury features.
Cons:
  • High prices for XLE, costly premium features.

  • 204000 and going strong - 2002 Toyota Camry

I love this car. I bought it new in November 2001 and still have it. This was purchased in Wisconsin and I had no trouble with snow and ice. I have since moved to Florida. It has been a great vehicle. The only problem I have had are with the muffler; for some reason, it needs to be replaced every two to three years, something to do with the connection to the catalytic converter. I had the headliner replaced for $106.00 in 2009. The seats, door seals, carpet, and paint are still in pretty good shape considering the age. Ive never had a more reliable car. Not looking forward to replacing it.

My wife and I bought this car in February. We had driven the Nissan Maxima, Honda Accord (owned a Civic and CRV,so didnt want the same old blah Honda design) and looked at others as well. We finally narrowed in down to the Maxima and the Camry SE V6. We drove them back to back, Camry first. The Camry SE absolutely blew away the Maxima. The Maxima is more powerfull at 255 hp but the build quality wasnt there. It had a rough ride and a cheaper looking interior. The Camry is very roomy and comfortable. The engine purrs like a kitten. My wife drives it to work, but I cant wait for when I get to drive it on the weekends!!! Fabulous car....definitely not dissapointed.

I have owned many cars at many price points (eg Chrys 300M, BMW 325I, Cadi STS, VW Passat) most brand new, this is by far the BEST value for your buck. I have owned this car from the start, no problems what so ever NONE. Original tires went 90KM, everything else is 100% original and have well over 150km (95Miles) and not a penny spent. Change my fluids, and treat the car normal. I expect well over 400KM like a friend has. I totally would re-buy again. See you in another 5-10 years Toyota!!

  • Great design but minor rattles - 2002 Toyota Camry
    By -

Ive had the car for 11,000 miles and find it to be a great car. The only concern Ive had are the small rattles coming from doors. Ive also noticed the engine idles rough when coming to a stop. Ive never had much success with dealers fixing rattles and noises. Hope they dont get worse with age.

  • Excellent Car!! - 2002 Toyota Camry

I have had my car for 1 year and 3 months now, and its still going strong!! about 10,500 miles now. There is now an annoying squeak in the dash on the right side, the dealer cant find what it is. The radio display has somehow gotten moisture behind it, and it is a little fogged up. Other than that it is still great and I dont regret buying it. We looked at Impala and Taurus, but neither had as much to offer.

  • Solid Sedan - 2002 Toyota Camry

Camry LE with 4 cylinder is a solid performer that has plenty of power for any traffic. Excellent ride and room without the high cost of a luxury car. At 30-34 mpg on the highway it consistently gets good gas mileage. Back seat is very comfortable for long rides. The old Camrys were great, the new ones are better.

im so happy with this car, this car takes care of all my needs a perfect car just for me =). i test drove the rest ( nissan maxima, nissan altima, and the new 2003 honda accord) but the camry is the best overall car. i wanted to buy the 2003 honda accord but its butt ugly, the ugliest car honda has ever made, whoever designed it should be fired.

  • Great Car for the money - 2002 Toyota Camry
    By -

I have owned this car for 6 years. I bought it with 24k miles. The only problems I have had are the transmission started to slip some and cause hesitation. I had the tranny flushed and this solved the problem. The paint is now peeling on the drivers front and rear quarter panel but I do not have a garage and it has gone through several storms. Overall a great car with no problems at 107K miles to date. I bought this car certified and I recommend that very highly.
