This Year's Model Updates:

One of America's favorite cars is all new this year. Design goals for the 2002 Toyota Camry included larger interior packaging, reduced noise, more advanced safety features, better driving dynamics and, of course, a new standard of value.

Pros:
  • Roomy, powerful engines, plenty of safety and luxury features.
Cons:
  • High prices for XLE, costly premium features.

After 225,000 miles, it still runs like new. No noise, leaks, or oil burning. Ive only had to replace tires, battery, and timing belt (recommended every 90,000 miles). The seats are still very comfortable. There have been no other repairs.

  • Long Term Love Affair - 2002 Toyota Camry

This car surpasses all competitors when one considers quality, features, comfort, design, room, performance, reliability, and value. Yes it costs more initially, but Toyotas hold their resale value, so focus on total ownership cost. Those who scoff at the Camry as an "appliance" generally are trying to defend their choice of less reliable, less cost-effective car purchases, because this car is luxurious, user-friendly, and a delight to drive, without the schmaltz. The car is quiet, tight, and smooth, handles predictably well, and has a smooth power curve. In 65K miles its total repairs were 2 new sets of brakes, a new battery, 4 new BF Goodrich Traction TA tires, and a steering gear lube.

  • Great car - 2002 Toyota Camry

When I first bought the car I wasnt too pleased with the styling. I wanted something sportier and faster but this was in my price range. Once I started driving it I fell in love with the car, it has quick get up with the vvti engine while also getting 30+ gas millage, everyone else who started driving my car really started liking it to. It was very reliable except near the end before I got in a car wreck my transmission was starting to skip a lot around 120k thousand miles, people look at me crazy when I say that about the Camry but looks like theres been more than just me with this problem so be careful with that I guess with this year. Other than that great car.

Our third camry V6 XLE, A huge improvement over the 1992 model. The navigation system is great. Gentle ride to the point where you dont feel like you want to race this car. Roomy interior.

  • LOVE THIS CAR! - 2002 Toyota Camry

I bought this car in 2007 with 80,000 miles on it. I never had to do anything but routine maintenance (tires twice and headlamps once) even though I didnt change the oil as often as I should (about every 6,000 miles rather than 3,000 miles). The car was totaled a few weeks ago with 150,000 miles on it and I couldnt be sadder to see it go! I have no doubts that it would have lasted me well through 300k. The v6 engine was plenty of power and it handled perfectly with about 27 mpg (mixed driving). Only complaint I have is that the interior was a big boring--I was constantly wishing that I had a sunroof and slightly "younger" styling. If I could buy it again, I would!

  • This car is great!!!!!!! From 2002-2004! - 2002 Toyota Camry

We just brought a 2002 Toyota Camry LE V6 not to long ago, and its great. The trunk is huge, interior is very comfortable, and the exterior is very stylish. I love my brand new Camry. Well, not really brand new, but you know what I mean. The interior is very quiet, the sound system is better than 2 home surroundsystems put together. No, its not bose. Its JBL brand, 8 speakers in six places, and lots of other featues. This Camry hardly requires no maintanace, uses very little gas, much better than all the competetors, such as: Honda Accord, Nissan Maxima, Nissan Altima, Kia Amanti, Mit. Galant, Ford Tarus, and mostly the Chevy Malibu. We tested them all.

i owned this car now for almost a year and i would recommend it very highly . it is great for a family. wide open space..reliable..feels solid...easy to get in and out. it looks good as well.. it just feels and drives like a more expensive car than what it sells for.

  • What a value - 2002 Toyota Camry

I just traded in my 1999 XLE for the 2002 XLE, but this tiem upgraded to the V6. I ahve to say that the 2002 is night and day from the 1999. While the 1999 XLE is a great car, the redesign of the 2002 and the added features are tremendous. I actually paid less for this one than my 1999. I am very excited about having this auto.
