Overview & Reviews
For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.
- A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
- Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

My favorite car of all time. - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By MN_WRX - January 21 - 2:00 amFun, fast, safe, and practical. All I can say is I absolutely love my WRX. The WRX oozes character. The engine, drivetrain, and turbo, create sweet mechanical sounds that are music to a car fanatics ears. The handling is tight without being punishing. The acceleration is rocket like, yet the car is surprisingly easy to drive sedately. The interior has nice materials, and the controls are perfectly placed. I added a Kartboy short shifter and bushings that do wonders for the shift feel. I look forward to driving to and from work. I want to run little errands, just so I can drive my REX. I live in Minnesota, and the winter is no match for the WRX.

Good by M3 Hello STI - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By MPOWERD - January 5 - 10:00 amThis is an awesome machine. I drive my sports cars like they are meant to be driven, hard and fast, and the STI will take anything you throw at it. I have never had one problem from this vehicle and I use it on a weekly basis for autocross and drag racing.

Fun to drive - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Hobbes - December 22 - 10:00 amLike all Subarus, the STi pushes power through all four wheels. But it offers the singular advantage of what the marketing mavens call a "driver controlled center differential." In automatic mode, sensors seamlessly divide the power among the wheels according to road surface, throttle opening, rate of acceleration and cornering force.

Intial Review, I love my new Suby! - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By rhayes - December 15 - 10:00 amJust bought this car, will follow up review in about 10,000 miles for an update. After a long and frustrating search, someone suggested this car, and its perfect for me! Young and sporty, reliable, and has plenty of room (was trying to get away from SUVS). All wheel drive will be great in Michigan!

Cheap, reliable AWD - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By jdl50cc - December 2 - 9:33 amIts hard to say anything negative about this car given the number of features that came for a pretty low price. Its amazingly reliable and seems to run on rails in the rain. Snow performance isnt bad, either. Wish fuel economy were a bit better, but the AWD takes a (worthwhile) toll. Could be quieter but, again, its an inexpensive vehicle.

Still Breaking In - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By BooSTi - November 29 - 10:00 amThis car has a lot of power. That is probably the selling point for all buyers. I only have 900 miles on it and Im currently getting around 16 miles per gallon which is still horrible. When the optional STi short shifter was brand new it was VERY notchy and hard to shift but its improving. The lock on my trunk doesnt always unlock itself when i use the alarm and this is becoming very anoying. Besides that the car is a overall good buy and Im satifyed. Im glad I chose this over RSX Type-S.

Street Legal Rally Car - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By hotprop - November 21 - 2:40 amItll lope along in 6th at 50 mph. HIDs (height adjustable), DCCD, 6-speed tranny, I/C spray, adj. Tach (shift points), and 300 smoothly delivered horsepower. Idles nicely at 500 rpm, lopes along at 2000 rpm. Get it over 4000 rpm and that boxer just growls so nice it gives you goose bumps. The tires are excellent and give good performance, wet or dry, but do let them warm-up. Very responsive handling. Oh, did I mention the BRAKES. Seats four, large trunk, large glove box makes it a car you could live with day to day. You cant buy another car like this for any amount of money. Its a fantastic performance car!
