This Year's Model Updates:

As the Impreza was redesigned just last year, not much changes for 2003. Convenience has been improved; keyless entry is now standard equipment on the 2.5 RS, TS Sport Wagon and Outback Sport. For the WRX, Subaru will offer a standard rear spoiler on the sedan (though you can still get the car without, if you want) and Sonic Yellow is available as an exclusive WRX color.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition.

  • wrx problems - 2003 Subaru Impreza

first off, i love my wrx, dont get me wrong i wouldnt trade it for anything! (but an sti!) however every rose has its thorn, and the wrx is no exception. my main problems, and the problems of others seem to revolve around the gear box. first gear is very weak. mine broke and my dealer didnt want to cover it, they eventualy did though. i just cant believe a gearset would brake before the clutch would give up! that just seems weak to me. other than that this is by far the most fun you can have in a car(in the front seat) i love it!!!

There is no other car like it. Best bang for the buck and it looks too sweet. I have had no major problems with the car.

I planned on keeping my 00 Protege until it died but for a WRX I traded my reliable economy car for more power. Generally not rash to buy a vehicle, when I found a WRX wagon on sale for a great price I bought it the day I test drove it. For anyone into spirited driving on gravel roads, a WRX has no rivals for the cost. Compared to the sedan version, the wagon is sluggish but the utility of extra interior space has been worth it. Everyone I know who has considered a wagon and bought a sedan has since regretted the lack of room. Fuel economy: 22 mpg day-to-day, 29 highway, 9 when running wide open.

I own a yellow wrx. My older son researched and bought a new dark blue/black wrx 2002. I went to co-sign his loan and spotted a yellow one in the front of the lot. Needless to say i bought one for me within a two week period.I bought it used at 12,000 miles. I also bought the extended warranty I replaced the turbo @at 17,000 miles. The previous owner must have enjoyed driving it. I also was the first in my area to have a fuel leak which puzzled the service people at first. Since then three others have been in with it. I received excellent service from the Colonial Service.

  • Its All About Driving! - 2003 Subaru Impreza

This car is just plain fun to drive! Jumps off the line with great acceleration once you get the engine (RPMs) spooled up. In the turns the car is balanced and rock solid with minimal body roll. Have driven in the rain and have yet to break the grip loose. Would recommend getting the short throw shifter for more precise shifting. I am averaging 21 (mpg) because it is hard to stay off the pedal in this car.

Subarus are tough, easy to work on, and fun to drive. Not the biggest car inside, but for a single commuter or a small family it is fine. The AWD is great when it is needed, but otherwise sucks up a bit of power. The car is a perfect blend of utility and performance, and is a great value.

The best performing car Ive ever driven. Great fun around town, or on the expressway. Its a little cramped inside (Im 63"), and seriously needs a 6 speed trans, but other than that, I LOVE THIS CAR!

Well. I would highly recommend this car. I’m sure you have read other details and review so I won’t bore you with the common basics. The bottom line is it’s fun, fast, and it sticks to the road like glue. I imagine you are looking for what’s wrong with it: well, the interior could be improved but it does hold up well. The clutch chatters at times during the first two or three shifts (intermittent) but is fine there after. That’s it. Go buy one.
