This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006, the Scion xA gets a mild styling refresh that includes updated designs for the lower air intake, headlamps, taillamps, wheel covers and front grille. Inside, there is new seat fabric and the speedometer background is now white instead of last year's silver. The xA also receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xA offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. Finally, the xA's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.

Cons:
  • The cool stuff costs extra, modest passing power with automatic transmission, no cruise control.

  • Loved One, Bought Another - 2006 Scion xA

I purchased an Xb for my daughter a year ago and love everything about it. Reliable, comfortable, cool. So when I needed a new car for myself, I picked up an Xa. It is more fun to drive than the Xb, but equally great on quality. Now my other daughter thinks we need a tC to complete the line in our driveway. I am not sure why the lack of cruise control is always mentioned, because I had no trouble ordering the car with cruise.

  • Excellent Choice - 2006 Scion xA

If you do you homework, this car is a 10. If you want more HP, buy something else. I have a 2006 automatic Scion xA with 2,300 miles on it. In nearly a 50/50 split between city and highway driving I am getting 30/37 mpg in real world driving. Its fun to drive, very comfortable and extremely roomy in front seat and acceptable in back seat. this car is exceptionally quality.

The Scion xA is reliable, but has some disappointments. For instance, the pick-up is not that good, even for a small car, and the fuel efficiency isnt anywhere near what it is supposed to be. It only gets about 31 mpg highway and 28 mpg city (supposed to get 37 highway and 32 city) and this is without using the heat or air conditioning. Other than that it is cute, fun, and easy to drive. Its great for parallel parking and has great standard features for a low price.

  • I love this CAR - 2006 Scion xA

This is my first new car and I am loving it. After hearing hundreds of horror stories about the whole car buying process, I was genuinely surprised at how fast and easy it was to buy a Scion. The dealership was amazing and they took care of everything. I love driving this little titan around. I always get the same reaction when I show it off; first, people usually chuckle at how small it is, but once inside, they always say the same thing "wow." The interior is stylish and roomy (it makes grocery shopping and laundry days a cinch). It handles well and drives smoothly. And it just looks so cool!

  • Has to be a Best Buy in Small Cars - 2006 Scion xA

My wife and I just purchased a new 06 Scion xA in Silver. This is a great little car for the money. The car comes with many more standard features than its competitors including ABS, Automatic, a great stereo, lots of leg room, etc.. This car also gets great gas mileage...38MPG! Heres the only problem with Scion. Their website makes it seem like you can build it online, and just pop into a local dealer and within about a week, you get your car the way you want it. Well it doesnt work like that. These cars are so hard to find, that you basically have to take whatever is on the lot. Also, why doesnt the xA comes with a remote door unlock thing?

  • Best Car for the Money! - 2006 Scion xA

Ive owned my 2006 Scion xA for over a year. Its been a fun, practical, and economical auto. With the automatic transmission and city driving, Ive averaged about 30-34 mpg while squeezing out a solid 40 mpg highway; with the caveat that you must keep the speed under 65 MPH to do so. The car is roomy, comfortable, and comes with more standard features than any similar vehicle in its class. Ive hauled a 27" television, groceries from Costco, and a Coleman portable generator in my little hatchback. The car is peppy in traffic, handles well, and steers on a dime making it easy to park. I compared it to the Rio, Aveo, and Focus and the xA was the best bang for the buck with Toyota service.

You get tons in this car for the price. It is agile, quick, and responds well. It has strong brakes, too.

  • With $4.00+ fuel - We made a great buy! - 2006 Scion xA
    By -

We bought this car for our 16 yr. old two years ago. 2 years later she loves her car even more with the sky rocketing fuel prices. She was rear ended last year at 30 MPH by a Ford F-150 and the car protected her wonderfully (in fact the frame didnt bend!) Was repaired like new in 10 days. We have not had any problems mechanical problems to date even after the accident. The Xa has excellent vision with few blind spots and is a very fun car to drive. With our high dollar Japanese and Euro imports costing $60.00-$80.00 dollars every fill up, any short coming (not many) of the Xa is made up at the pump!

  • Great Little Ride - 2006 Scion xA

This little car car has a smooth comfortable ride and its maneuverability is great. Its tiny and cute outside, but has plenty of room for adult passengers in the front and back inside. Its large window area makes for really good view out of rear when backing. Driving the xA is a joy!
