The 2006 Scion xB receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xB wagon offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. In other news, the xB's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.

Great Multipurpose vehicle - 2006 Scion XB
By lindelift394 - January 7 - 1:20 amThis is a great vehicle for someone who needs a lot of room for a little bit of money. This car is fun to drive, the handling around turns is great, even on wet roads. Im a little over 6 tall and finding a comfortable car is hard for me, but the xB has plenty of foot and head room. Ive been getting about 33-34 mpg with it and thats important to me because I drive quite a bit. My only complaint so far would be that Scion shows as a standard feature the audio controls on the steering wheel and mine did not come with that.

Longest Ive ever owned one car - 2006 Scion XB
By Rocker Dad - September 29 - 1:56 amI bought my Scion after news of our second baby arrived, so the xB replaced a V8 Magnum Dodge Dakota 4x4 with extended cab (sweet truck). Hard as it was to trade in my cool & manly truck, I was thinking about 3 things: Ease of getting baby and belongings in and out; passenger room; and gas mileage (my truck guzzled gas!). I test drove several cars, including a new VW Jetta, but none of them had the gas mileage, ease of entry and egress, and passenger room as the xB. Considering my needs it was a no brainer. Ive never had a failure, breakdown, broken part, etc. with this car. It drives great in deep snow with cables, and the Pioneer stereo kicks. The features for the price were unbeatable.

Mileage not great but fun car! - 2006 Scion XB
By Loveit - August 19 - 10:00 amI had wanted this car forever so I finally got it about a week ago. The sign on the window said "33 mpg". Right. It averages MAYBE 20 so far and thats highway miles. My VW did better than that and thats the reason I got rid of it! I NEEDED 33mpg. Anyway, love the car otherwise. I love the box, it is comfy, radio and sound is awesome and totally customizable.

Best All Around Car Ihave ever had - 2006 Scion XB
By marinerfh - May 17 - 1:24 pmExceptional headroom and legroom, front and rear. Flexible cargo options with 60% split, folding rear seats plus passenger seat folds flat for those long items. I find the center mounted gauges and speedometer in the xB a definite plus, not obscured by the Steering wheel.. Could use an additional 4"-6" of space behind the rear seats, side airbags, more sound insulation, an upgrade to the economical 1.8L Corolla Engine, the split front bench seat as sold for the Japan market, and a true console. city car. The 2006 xB appeals to both youth and to seniors. Ideal car for service workers as well. The 2008-2011 xBs are too heavy with too big an engine, killing fuel economy.

Most car for you Money. - 2006 Scion XB
By kingmb08 - May 5 - 11:02 amI always thought these toasters were so ugly. Well I needed a car and this car at the time you got the most for your money. I can fit a dryer in the back of this thing ( yes a dryer to for your clothes). I do feel less manly driving it but you cant beat the interior room, gas mileage and price. It is a little sluggish and I am hesitant to pull out in from of other cars. I think this would be a great car for a business or someone who just drives in the city. . I think this would be a great car for older people with knee or hip problems because it is so easy to get into and out of or for someone who is getting in and out of the car all day long.

Dont use the A/C - 2006 Scion XB
By Kat - April 3 - 6:16 amThis car is fine for running around town. I am assuming the gas mileage is ok as long as you dont use the air condition. Which is Southern California is next to impossible. Once the AC is used the gas mileage is horrible. With AC use gas mileage goes down to about 14mpg. Overall an ok car for around town errand, but next time I will buy something with a bigger engine so the air conditioner doesnt kill the gas mileage.

By bigy - December 8 - 12:26 amThe new 2006 Scion xB is the best small car for local driving. It is great on gas and easy and fun to drive. I looked at tons of cars, this was my choice, and I made the right choice. I have driven one for a month and 2,000 miles and it still makes me happy.

Another Old Timer Likes It - 2006 Scion XB
By baragon - December 1 - 3:20 amThe automatic Scion xB is underpowered but the 5-speed has enough power to merge into busy traffic. Its gas mileage is amazing [40+ mpg] with the 5-speed if you keep it at 55 mph and drive with a very light foot without the air conditioning on during a trip. If you want the 5-speed you may have to order it since it seems few dealers have them on the lot and it may take 6-8 weeks.

Amazing Space - 2006 Scion XB
By David - November 5 - 4:36 amMy xB handles amazingly well, with Scions optional suspension additions. I added chrome wheels and a leather interior with heated seats. This is one marvelous, albeit underpowered. It would benefit from a turbocharger. My only complaint, and one the dealer is trying to help me with, is the terribly uncomfortable drivers seat. If I cant get this corrected through Scion I will move to an aftermarket seat, such as recaro or Corbeau. I might even modify it with stock power seats from another manufacturer. I am averaging 33 mpg and am barely broken in. All in all the xB is a great value. My extended warranty runs through 2013.
