This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Scion xB receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xB wagon offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. In other news, the xB's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.

Pros:
  • Massive interior for its size, unusual mini-truck styling, long list of standard equipment, standard stability control, handles well for a budget-priced vehicle.

  • Old Timers opinion - 2006 Scion XB

The XB was designed with the young in mind, but I think they missed it altogether! It is a seniors car! It has excellent visibility and performance, and you can get in and out without scalping yourself or pretzelizing your body! We get 38 MPG, which helps on a retirement income too! and we heartily recommend the XB to all Old timers like us. Im 88 years old.

  • Reliable Space Capsule - 2006 Scion XB

The Scion xB has great interior space for a tall man and it is as reliable as a Toyota, of course. My only wish is for a bit more sound-deadening of the interior and a bit more comfort (brighter interior dome light, softer seating, etc.) - perhaps there should be a Lexus xB?

My Scion xB is silver with a stick. It is a very slow car, but its so sweet. I cant stand myself. Its love. I have the blue light in the footwells, and the armrest which is essential. This is a very dark car on the inside, so get a light. Im getting 32 MPG combined. Again, this car is extremely slow. The back phony lowrider tail section is falling off because I cracked it on a curb. You need to be careful. Buy this car immediately. It doesnt get any better. The dealer will have nothing to do with haggling. Get them on the interest rate of the loan you will pay. They will go into the other room, their face will turn red, and theyll make the deal - sort of. Good luck, and happy driving.

  • Ugly but GREAT - 2006 Scion XB

Ok, the 2006 xb is ugly but because of that design the interior space is amazing! My wife averages 31 mpg in daily commuter driving including stop-and-go traffic. The interior feels cheap and the ride is stiff. You sit very high for a small car which improves visibility. Not much power from the 1.5 liter engine but who cares with that gas mileage. Very cheap to purchase new, only costing $15,000 with the optional cruise and armrest. The rear liftgate is the entire height of the car so its a bit awkward to open. The cruise control is awful to use as it drops 3 to 5 mpg before engaging, but once it does it works fine. This is the best car for the money and thats why the resale is so high

  • What a great car! - 2006 Scion XB
    By -

So glad I bought this thing before the new one came out (yuck!). Its the best car Ive ever had. Fun to drive, gets good mileage, extremely useful to haul large objects, I could go on and on. You can even push the front seat to connect the back and take a nap. This is not a performance vehicle, so dont expect much of that. With the stick, it merges just fine on the freeway. My only gripe is the cheap plastic faux-lowrider crap around the outside of the car. If you want a great little car thats a blast to drive, this is a good choice.

  • Its aight.. - 2006 Scion XB

While the Scion xB isnt much to look at, its a good ride. Its smooth and comfortable, but I wish people wouldnt look at me all funny while Im driving around town...

  • Fun Little Car - 2006 Scion XB

I had a 2005 xB - it was a very fun car to drive. My only complaint was with the small engine. It accelerated fine - but revs at 4,000 - 5,000 RPM when doing 75 - 80 mph on the freeway. My wife and two children were in this car when they were hit from behind at about 50 mph on the freeway. The xB spun them sevral times without tipping and no major injuries. It surprisingly held up very well considering. I would buy another one, but I am going to wait till a larger engine is offered - the 2.2 would be nice.

  • Toyota Should Rethink - 2006 Scion XB

When I first bought the car it was a smooth, quiet ride. Now, that I have put 13,000 miles on it, it shakes, rattles, and rolls. There is so much interior noise and the interior is made with cheap looking plastic. It gets good gas mileage but, is terrible on the highway and has no acceleration and the throttle hesitates. I love the fact that the whole car has a lot of space especially in the back seat. I do a lot of highway driving and its a comfortable ride. If youre looking for a car with high performance, this is not your car. Get the tC instead. If youre looking for a car to drive around town to get you from point A to point B then this is the car for you!

  • My Scion xB results at 11,000 miles - 2006 Scion XB

This car does what it should do. Its lifetime MPG is about 30 mpg. My xBs gas mileage improved after about 5,000 miles

  • Still needs some work - 2006 Scion XB

I have to be honest, you cannot beat the price, and its made by Toyota! You will not believe the amount of space this thing has, not to mention an amazing panoramic style windshield.
