This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Scion xB receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xB wagon offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. In other news, the xB's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.

Pros:
  • Massive interior for its size, unusual mini-truck styling, long list of standard equipment, standard stability control, handles well for a budget-priced vehicle.

  • Love my little 2006 XB - 2006 Scion XB

I had a Camry Hybrid, which was great for fuel economy and comfy to ride, but the huge battery ate up all the trunk space and that was a problem getting several guitars and amps to rehearsals and gigs. I wanted something small but with max cargo space, so I gravitated to the XB. I was blown away by the space inside this little car. I recently drove from LA to NYC in 3 days, with 4 guitars, a banjo, a mandolin, a couple duffle bags, my miniature schnauzer and my little sister. We drove through desert, over mountains and through a day and a half of pounding rain, and I love that little XB even more now!

  • Made the Right Choice - 2006 Scion XB

After visting this site for months researching all of my options, I finally went with the Scion xB and I am totally sure I made the right decision. The Element was big, clunky and pricy. The Chevy HHR was silly looking and well as a Chevrolet. The only real contender was the Mazda3 wagon, and this beat it in catagories I was looking at. It has more interior room and drove much better. Plus its cheaper. It sits high (er than my Saturn SC2) and feels incredibly safe. You honestly can not beat this car in value. It comes with, pretty much, everything you could want standard. One thing that some hold against this car is the 1.5 4-cylinder motor, but trust me itll move on the on-ramps and at lights.

  • WOW! - 2006 Scion XB

This is my first new car in 19 years. Through extensive research I decided on this vehicle. So far every thing about the vehicle is great. I really love the gas milage. After having had a SUV, the extra savings in gas cost will make the car payments!

  • Thanks Scion - 2006 Scion XB

The new 2006 Scion xB is the best small car for local driving. It is great on gas and easy and fun to drive. I looked at tons of cars, this was my choice, and I made the right choice. I have driven one for a month and 2,000 miles and it still makes me happy.

The automatic Scion xB is underpowered but the 5-speed has enough power to merge into busy traffic. Its gas mileage is amazing [40+ mpg] with the 5-speed if you keep it at 55 mph and drive with a very light foot without the air conditioning on during a trip. If you want the 5-speed you may have to order it since it seems few dealers have them on the lot and it may take 6-8 weeks.

  • Almost perfect - 2006 Scion XB

My Scion xB is black. It is so fun to drive. It evokes very curious responses from people. My wife and kids thought I was joking when I bought it. My teenage son vowed to never drive it and thought it was very uncool. It has excellent brakes. I made a panic stop yesterday from about 30 mph. and the ABS stopped it hard and straight. Without it, the wheels would have locked up and I would have slid into the car ahead of me. The Scion is quick enough from 0-30, but its acceleration is almost nil at speeds beyond 40 mph. In other words, passing on the freeway happens slowly. On a drive from San Francisco to LA recently, down I-5 and it hummed along at 75 mph no problem.

  • Amazing Space - 2006 Scion XB

My xB handles amazingly well, with Scions optional suspension additions. I added chrome wheels and a leather interior with heated seats. This is one marvelous, albeit underpowered. It would benefit from a turbocharger. My only complaint, and one the dealer is trying to help me with, is the terribly uncomfortable drivers seat. If I cant get this corrected through Scion I will move to an aftermarket seat, such as recaro or Corbeau. I might even modify it with stock power seats from another manufacturer. I am averaging 33 mpg and am barely broken in. All in all the xB is a great value. My extended warranty runs through 2013.

  • Lousy Car - 2006 Scion XB

The Scion xB has no power and is not aerodynamic. This does not allow to get better gas mileage. The Toyota Echo engine is very weak and this car has no acceleration whatsoever. Using it as rolling advertising by having it wrapped is OK, but I do not enjoy driving it.

  • Had to Have It - 2006 Scion XB

Go buy the Scion xB. You know you want one. Heres the deal: this is THE best built, no frills (unless you upgrade) big car hiding in a samll cars body. Its tiny on the outside, but so spacious inside. True, youre not going to win any drag races in this thing, but it will get you to work, the grocery store, out on the town etc.. for the next 10 years! It drives great and is soooo good on the gas. Plus it looks cool. Go buy one. Im going to get another for the wifey.

  • Scion xB 2006 Model - 2006 Scion XB

I traded in a 2004 Jeep Liberty (avg. 17 mpg) for a 2006 Scion xB for better gas mileage. So far, we are averaging 28 to 30 mpg for around town driving, and it costs so little to fill the tank. The only downside to this car is you feel every bump in the road, I would not recommend it if you have back problems. Also, our insurance company rates it as an SUV, not as a wagon. So if you buy one check out how much it will cost to insure it. We are happy with this car and would buy another one!
