This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Scion xB receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xB wagon offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. In other news, the xB's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.

Pros:
  • Massive interior for its size, unusual mini-truck styling, long list of standard equipment, standard stability control, handles well for a budget-priced vehicle.

  • Great Buy - 2006 Scion XB

I have had this car for three months and have over 10,000 miles. It is a winner. It really is a great utility vehicle with a sporty feel. I have gotten 34 MPG on all freeway driving, I had an aftermarket cruise control put on it and built my own arm rest making it a great travel car. Its top quality, cool looks, and great performance will continue to make this a best seller.

We purchased this car in 06. I will not ever buy another XB. We had one expense a year ago that ran over $600 to fix. Currently, we have a leaking water pump - another $500. This is a lemon! We had a slight bump up a year ago. A car bumped into us. The whole front bender had to be replaced. We didnt have to pay for this but it has made me realize how unsafe this car is. I hate driving it on the interstate. This will be our last XB. I told my husband we should have purchased another Camry.

  • Im sorry, I have buyers remorse - 2006 Scion XB

I have almost 5,000 miles on my 2006 XB. So far the windshield wiper rubber part came off of the metal causing theit to stick up and scrape the paint off my car. It is now rusting. The windshield is so straight that rocks chip it VERY easy (4 times already)! I need a new one. The radio sounds horrible and when I turn volume up. When I turn sharp corners the radio station changes. Ive lived at beach for years never had problems with door parts getting bent due to the wind!! A "little" peice of metal is bent and I have to slam door shut to close it and now the window only rolls down 3 inches! Also the interior lighting is bad. Its seats are VERY uncomfortable. And it drives like a go cart. If you are used to small cars this wont be a problem for you.

The xB is great overall, but its gas mileage doesnt meet my expectations.

  • Love My xB - 2006 Scion XB

My xB is a great car. I have been in the mountains with it. It hugs the turns like a sports car. It gets great gas mileage, too. It has easy access for my grandma to get in and out plus it is real roomy in back. I am always talkin to people about the car whenever I stop. I should be sellin them.

I bought my Scion xB brand new off the showroom floor. I have never had any trouble with it whatsoever. I average about 34 mpg. It still gets looks and questions from people and even though the engine could use a little more horsepower its still a pleasure to drive and is very reliable. I recommend it to everyone I meet, especially to owners of the Honda Element which only gets about 22 mpg and has suicide doors for those who sit in the back seat. The Scion xB is definitely an awesome, reliable, roomy car that will fulfill anyones desires for a reliable and roomy car.

Im a courior and this vehicle meets all my demands. It has great comfort, fuel economy and reliability. It handles road perfectly. I do lots of highway travel and 18 wheelers dont even intimadate me. The xB is a great handler for small vehicle. I am very happy with it.

  • More to follow! - 2006 Scion XB

We purchased this car as a B-day gift for my Wifes brother, and kept it garaged for 2 months. Before we gave it to him, but after only driving it 30 + miles my Wife was ready to get herself one. Which has not happened since we bought her 1979 Rabbit Diesel, but will happen as soon as the Diesel dies, its cylinder head is finally going after + 200,000 miles.

I know that Scion is marketed toward youngsters, but this "box" is too good to pass up. It has excellent fuel economy and handling, and beaucoup room, plus Toyota fit, finish, and reliability. It takes curves like a slot car. all for a price less than one would pay for a bone stock Civic or a loaded Kia. Yes, there are lots of options for the kids, but they are mainly useless gimicks and shiny trinkets. All you need (and more) comes standard: air comditioning, power everything, keyless entry, a 160 watt Pioneer stereo (so I can listen to Click and Clack at a volume that will bring down low flying Aircraft), stability and traction control. I am very very pleased with it, mine gets 34 mpg in mixed driving.
