This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Scion xB receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xB wagon offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. In other news, the xB's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.

Pros:
  • Massive interior for its size, unusual mini-truck styling, long list of standard equipment, standard stability control, handles well for a budget-priced vehicle.

The Scion xB is affordable, fun to drive, and unusual. This may be the best car Ive ever owned, all things considered.

To review this car, you must put things in perspective. This is a $15,000 car and not a luxury car. My scores are based upon this. It is pretty roomy and comfortable, gets good mileage if driven sensibly, has stylish looks, Toyota quality (hopefully), and sufficient performance, etc... Are you going to blow anybody off of the road? No, but dont buy this car for that reason. This is reliable transportation with pretty good gas mileage, that is funky, stylish, and fun to drive. That said, I think that this is one of the best auto buys out there. If the auto makers get serious about small cars and mileage in this country, then there might be some competition, but until then; Scion seems to top the list.

  • loved it... so we purchased 2 xBs - 2006 Scion XB

My wife and I each have an xB. They are roomy on the inside, very dependable, and quite fun to drive.even though Scion aims for the younger generation. I am 56 and the wife is over 50. These little "toasters" are much easier for the older drivers and passengers to enter and exit. Parking is a snap. Its as easy as a golf cart. although it does not have a "luxury ride" the "Toaster" will do what retirees need without breaking the bank (even on a fixed income). The fit and finish are superior to nearly any car on the market, reguardless of price. The xB is an excellent value both in purchase price and cost of operation. I highly recommend at least driving the xB before purchasing any similar vehicle.

  • Scion Xb is a FUN car - 2006 Scion XB
    By -

This is a FUN car! Consumer Reports indicated that it has too much road noise. Mine is quiet. I think, Im actually getting better gas mileage than its stated 30 city / 38 highway. It has plenty of interior room. I just wish it had came with a roof rack for carying longer items like ladders or plywood. I think anyone would enjoy this vehicle. It looks like a vehicle out of the future.

  • The Great Box - 2006 Scion XB

I have always thought the Scion xB was very unique in several ways. First being that the car looks like no other, and that it got really good gas milage. Now that I am a owner of a 2006 xB I really love its ride. I notice several people driving around me looking at the car probably thinking that it has no "ZIP". Oh how they are so wrong. This car has a great "zip" in the beginning. As far as getting the car up beyond the 85 mph its pretty hard, but that is against the law in many states. :( But anyway this car is great. I am 61 and I have tons of rooms for me to relax in the front or back seats.

  • Luv my xB - 2006 Scion XB

I love this car! It is a blast to drive and I love the way it handles. I didnt like the looks of it at first. Then I drove it! It has tons of space and it has a great sound system. This car has the heart of a much bigger vehicle.

  • No Cruise Control? - 2006 Scion XB

I got the new Envy Green special edition automatic Scion xB. I really do love this little car/truck/suv thing. I downsized from a Chevrolet Avalanche! It hums right along at 80 mph. 0-60 it isnt the greatest, but then who would be surprised by that. Its plenty peppy. With my first tank of gas in mixed driving I got 28 mpg.

  • Best Box Made...Anywhere - 2006 Scion XB

Purshased this car new in 2005. I can not say enough good things about it and I have had 57 cars...by actual count. I dont know what the guy is doing that got only 14 mpg, but I think he needs a new calculator. I have never gotten less than 26 mpg and even got 40.1 mpg on one freeway trip with one aboard. I know it looks nerdy but it is more fun to drive than any car I have ever had(the list includes sport cars, Mercedes, Volvos, etc.). We have 90K on the box and expect to go to 200K then give it to a grandchild.

  • Post-modern Car - 2006 Scion XB

This is a great car. It is a car that is either loved or hated by consumers. There is no middle ground. It is fun, fun, fun. It is a nimble, little, urban loving car. It has a very tight turning radius. It darts in and out of traffic effortlessly. If you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary, with great fuel mileage and reliability, this is the car for you.

  • Best Fun since the "60s" - 2006 Scion XB

This car is fun and economical. I am in the process of trading in my New Beetle Turbo for my second Scion xB. We are now a 3 xB family, soon to make it 4 xBs in the family.
