  • Spec-V Wrap-up Review - 2004 Nissan Sentra

Recently turned in my Spec-V for an Altima. The Spec-V was a very fun car to drive and was a performance bargain that could not be beat for a few years. Finicky handling, but fairly high limits once you were aquainted with the car. Good strong motor, brakes, and nice steering. The only real weak links were the shifter (sometimes) and torque steer. After a while though you do become accustomed to these quirks and the car never lost its charm. The car felt solid all the time I had it. The only big complaint I had was the ease with which the paint got chipped in the front. My other big complaint was that Nissan did not see this as normal wear and tried (but failed) to charge me for it.

  • Split Seam - 2004 Nissan Sentra

After only two months, one of the seams on the drivers seat has split. The dealer is ordering a new seat bottom to replace it, though. I am getting about 34 MPG in mainly highway driving. I was hoping for more with gas prices around $2 and rising! The front cup holders are only good for very short cups. Many of the under frame and engine components are rusting badly.

  • So good so far - 2004 Nissan Sentra

Was looking for a newer car with good gas mileage. Choose the Sentra beacuse we have had several Nisson cars, one a 92 Stanza, that have been reliable. Average mileage so far (5550 miles) has been near 35 on long trips, including with A/C going.

  • Fun for your money - 2004 Nissan Sentra

First, this car was quite inexpensive. A great value, but lacking in some areas. I dont think it compares to luxury sport vehicles, but it finds its way to the top of the pack for vehicles under $17k. The 2.5L motor is so torquey you can pull with most v6s off the line (however its not so tough on the highway). Handling is for tuned for driving fanatics, with excellent response and minimal roll, but the 17 in. wheels and hardened bushings relay every bump on longer drives. Adequate interior - love the seats, but the plastics scratch up quite easily. Exterior was "updated" for 04 to match the base model... Now theres no escaping the ugly "bucktooth"!

  • Its A Beast. Keeping it till its dead! - 2004 Nissan Sentra

Aww man, i got this car like 2.5 years ago, it had 52,000 when i got it in 07, it currently has 140,000. Its been in 2 accidents, 6000 in damage the first time, and it was just currently totaled from me side swiping a tow truck, and hitting a guard rail. Its a great car, i have had some of the problems listed from everyone else, dealer had to put a fuel pump in it, crank sensor, new window motor and trunk motor, when i bought it the tires were "new" but had bad road noise. dealer replaced those too. Also, the damn belt has been replaced 4 times, still squeaks like crazy, doesnt hit bumps very well, and gas guage doesnt always go to full, if ya turn left fast it will, or about 60MI it goes up

  • I hate this car. - 2004 Nissan Sentra

I have had non-stop problems with this car since 3 weeks after I bought it. It has problems starting and has recently quit starting all together. Constantly having to replace spark plugs. It handles poorly in the snow and rain. I have reason to believe that the dealership knew about these problems before I bought it, as seeing how they admitted it when I took it into them. The warranty doesnt cover any of the problems I have had.

This is my first "new" car. I shared ownership with my mother on an older sentra, and this one is way better than I expected. Great torque, speed, handling, and look.

  • Fun to drive, not to own - 2004 Nissan Sentra
    By -

Im usually a Honda consumer, but due to their expensive prices I tried to experiment a little and bought this car because it was recommended to me by a family member. However, I have to tell you guys that this thing has been a pain to own. It is fun to drive, but it has had recalls on catalytic converter, ecu and crank angle sensor. The dealer has also given me a hard time about these recalls. This car also makes the most annoying ticking sound after turning it off. I ended up trading it In for a Honda civic Si. Do it right the first time and stay away from Nissan.

  • Great Value - 2004 Nissan Sentra

The car is certainly not the fastest or best compact performance sedan out there, but for the price it is hard to beat. Shifter feels good, but can catch you off guard going from 4th to 5th. Power is great for a naturally aspirated 4 cyl. Brakes are powerful and linear. Great price! Lease for $156/month with $3,000 down and 15k miles a year. Fun to drive fast.
