  • Disappointing Reliability - 2004 Nissan Quest

Very disappointing reliability, just over 60,000/5 yer drive train warranty, required new front wheel bearings, the one month later a new timing chain was needed. Timing chain is supposed to last life of engine. Is a $2,500 service job. Nissan would not cover, decided to trade in. Be very wary if purchasing a used 2004 Quest van if the timing chains have not been replaced yet. Nissan is aware of problem, issues a tech bulletin 1 year ago, but no recall. If buying a newer year, make sure you bring it in for service if engine ever makes a whining sound before warranty is up. I had planned on keeping it more than 5 years and 60,700 miles but could not see spending an additional $2,500 now.

  • unsafe on steep downgrades. - 2004 Nissan Quest

We love and hate our new Quest 3.5S. The problem is the transmission. In low gear, on a 10% downgrade, from a complete stop, the car will accelerate to 50 mph in 0.3 of a mile without ever using the gas pedal. I have since test driven one other Quest 3.5S and a 3.5SL they both performed the same way. If you think it is unsafe please write the NHTSA to get it recalled.

  • Rattle Trap! - 2004 Nissan Quest
    By -

Like other reviewers, we were initially attracted to the Quests sleek body style and "non-minivan" appeal; indeed, every day we get comments from admirers. Unfortunately, though, the vehicles integrity does not match its style. Weve had it back to the dealer 3 times for interior/side door shudders, rattles, and other mechanical malfunction, and for starting failure during cold weather. Generally, we receive inconclusive answers from the service department. We would love to keep it but need it to just WORK!!!

  • a few things about the quest - 2004 Nissan Quest

    1. nicely designed 2. too many interior knocks (supposed to be repaired by recall..knocked more after "repaired" going in to the shop again. 3. over priced aftermarket items ( dvd player, navigation system ( this should be doen in factory) 4. terrible terrible mileage, nowhere near posted (12mpg local driving) 5. dealer seems to make service as inconvienient as possible. 6. manual back windows pain to open and close. 7. side windows do not open 8. back hatch never completely catches on first attempt. 9. lots of storage 10. great seat design 11.problem with passenger window controls.

  • The pros way outweigh the cons - 2004 Nissan Quest

We love this van! It looks great - it has great mid range acceleration. There is not an onramp made that it doesnt love!!! Awesome highway performance and great fuel economy - 28 mpg on a fast long distance road trip.

  • Relentless Rattles - 2004 Nissan Quest
    By -

With a 1 year old, this was our first minivan. We were replacing a Mercedes C320 so my wife wanted all the luxury ammeneties. We narrowed our search to the Quest, Odyssey and Sienna. The quest had the latest features without the price premium on the Sienna. Weve had the car for nearly a year and love the drive, room, DVD and fold flat seats. However, build quality of the body is poor. Doors dont fit tight. There are constant rattles (back gate and side doors) and several trips to the dealer have not resolved them. Nissan extended the warranty to 5 years, nice gesture, but wed prefer doors that dont rattle.

  • wish it worked as good as it looks - 2004 Nissan Quest

I have had fun driving it and I said I would NEVER own one. People come up to me in parking lots and ask about it all the time. I do have a prob with having to take a brand new vehicle in for repairs. Like someone prev wrote, I had trouble starting it and one day it just wouldnt start with two unhappy kids. I have it in the shop now because it got stuck in third gear over the 4th of July and I have to take it back next week for a bunch of parts that are being recalled. They arent making my life any easier by offering loaner cars and they dont even vaccuum your vehicle for you after you have it serviced. Even Ford does better.

  • great for us - 2004 Nissan Quest

This van has been great. Millage is good (21 city - 28 hwy), We now have 210,000 and have had very few repairs considering its age. Mostly routine repairs. I love driving this van, it is very comfortable, handles well and acceleration is great! I live in a northern state and it handles winter driving well even with only FWD and all season tires. However, I hate backing it up as visiblity is lousy.

  • The Jury Is Out - 2004 Nissan Quest

This is our first minivan and we are very happy early on.We felt the best value was in the S. The option packages in the S & SL are NOT worth it. A big selling point was the aesthetics inside and out. The engine is strong and you can set the cruise at 80 and it will go effortlessly. Fuel economy is disappointing. 22 MPG on the highway is about all, but it is over 4000 pounds - minivans arent "mini" any more. Inside the fit and finish are not in the class of the new Odyssey or Sienna. The cabin is quiet and the ride smooth. The fold down seats are great. We noted some bad reviews on the internet but were bolstered by the 5 year/60K warranty.

  • Quest 04 Not Reliable - 2004 Nissan Quest
    By -

Attracted to the styling and drivetrain of this vehicle. Unfortunately quality is a large concern. Brakes wear out prematurely. Tires are in need of replacement after 30k miles. Noisy doors that get better and then worse again. Mirrors with intermittent problems. Company does not stand behind this vehicle, either. Delay you with excuses until items are out of warranty and then you pay. Refuse to admit any issues are not normal wear and tear. Cannot recommend this vehicle or Nissan in general based on our experience. Beware used Quests if 04!
