Great van. Dont understand some criticisms on brakes, 33,000 miles and they just now need changing. The Goodyear LSs, JUNK, 33,000 miles and have to be replaced at over $105.00/tire. Nissan design engineers, fire the suspension guys, picked odd size tire 225/65/16 only manufacturer - Goodyear LSs, had to go to a 235/60/16 for more choices. Wont buy the LSs again. Bad design/marketing by Nissan, dont design with single manufacurer odd size tires. Ride, comfort, mileage all aces. Had two Windstars, they were primitive compared to this Quest. Love Nissans backing door problems on early models. Nissan needs to pay attention to dealer service network. Real turn off with lousy dealer service.

  • A Great Family Van - 2004 Nissan Quest

Overall my wife and I really like the vehicle. Family travel is much improved since we opted for the DVD entertainment system. The navigation system is nice but not used enough to justify the 2K price tag. We love the interior space. It is easy to move around in. Engine performance has been great, but gas mileage is no where near the sticker values. The best weve one on long hauls is 22 mpg. (expect 17-18 mpg avg.) We have had some intermitant trouble with the electronics in the transmission. Nissan claims that no problem exists, but at times the van will not accelerate past 30mph. This is usually remedied by turning the vehichle off and restarting.

  • Overall a good van - 2004 Nissan Quest

SO far I have put 4k mile on it. It runs great. Powerful engine and confortable ride. Some drawbacks are rattling sliding doors and weird shifting tranny. I took the car back to the dealer and they did not fix anything but make the rattle noise louder. anyway, I spent a day and fixed the rattle noise on both sliding door myself; no more noise. Now I still have the tranny problem sometimes. Over all, I would give this car 8 to 9 rating.

We test drove many minivans on the market before buying our Quest. The space was one of the main reasons we chose it. We love our Quest on trips with our 3 kids. The performance of the car is top notch. auto sliding doors are a problem in the winter. Ours wouldnt shut because it froze. Dealers are not properly trained in how to service vehicle. I am one of the fortunate ones whos door stopped rattling after recall. The DVD/sound system is great. Love the info center. It didnt take long to get used to. Plan on keeping this vehicle for a while assuming the issues that Ive read about dont occur on this one.

  • some problems - 2004 Nissan Quest

Have had some problems with the car. Have had it to not change gears twice. Had to turn off engine and restart. Will not start when it is below freezing outside. Rattle in the side sliding doors. When taking it to dealship we get the same ol "Cant fix if it is not broke" Once it starts all the problems go away.

It could be better on gas mileage and pickup as far as speed.

  • Great car, some annoying bugs - 2004 Nissan Quest

Very much like the drive and look of this minivan. Best of the ones we drove. Would absolutely love it if the build quality were better. Squeaking overhead console has been "fixed" 4 times in 6 months. Passenger side sliding door rattles and no solution available for that.

I have driven this van about 2500 miles. Love the interior! It is comfortable and spacious for passengers. The luggage/grocery well in the back is great for trips to the store. Acceleration is fair to good, a bit too much shifting between gears as it speeds up for my taste, but trade off is decent gas milage. I have gotten around 27 mpg on the highway, 20 mpg for mixed driving. The car handles nicely, very comfortable to drive, handles snowy conditions well. Towing capacity is 3500 lbs, which is much better than the smaller SUVs we were considering. Would definately recommend this van!

  • Still better than most minivans - 2004 Nissan Quest

The wife loves the van. I think if it were totaled, she would still try to have it rebuilt! This from a family that said we would "NEVER own a minivan." Then 8 months of pregnancy happened. It has been a very good van overall. She is more impressed than I, but I dont mind driving it. I always tell the other guys who tease that it has the Maxima V6 and that seems to smooth a few over. We had problems right out of the gate with a new model in its first year, but Nissan backed us up 100% and even extended our factory warranty until 5 years or 60,000 miles without us asking! The wife loves the gauges over the A/C and radio with the storage over the wheel.

  • Squeaks and rattles - 2004 Nissan Quest

I have the SE model with dual DVD screens and every other possible add on including GPS. $40,000 out the door price. It is a lovely car, drives nice, great sound system DVD is great with the grand kids. I want to love it. Im trying to love it.HOWEVER The sliding doors click, clack (rattle)along with other squeaks and squawks that drive me crazy. Hard to read the gas guage and odometer. Same motor as my 04 Maxima, but half the pick-up.
