This Year's Model Updates:

Kia joins the minivan rumble with the introduction of the Sedona, the lowest-priced minivan in America. Standard on the Sedona are such niceties as air conditioning, power windows, cruise control and auto on/off headlights. Upscale EX models get a CD player, interior wood trim and power front seats. All Sedonas benefit from Kia's impressive Long Haul Warranty with drivetrain protection for 10 years or 100,000 miles.

Pros:
  • Unbeatable price, attractive array of standard goodies, great warranty package.
Cons:
  • Missing some key minivan features, engine could use more power.

  • A Really Great Van - 2002 Kia Sedona
    By -

This van was purchased in August of 2002, because my grandmother needed to get a wheelchair lift for her cart for the back of the van. They were a little unhappy that they had to buy this van though, because they were the kind of people that would only buy GM or Ford. But Kia had the best price. 6 years later, they would easily buy another Sedona. They love and so do I. This van has such a great ride, looks cool, a strong engine, and very comfortable seats. I was only 10 when they bought this and didnt know much about cars then, but I fell in love with this van so much that I started doing research on Kia, and know, all that I will ever buy is a Kia.

  • A Fun Family Car to drive - 2002 Kia Sedona
    By -

My wife and I were looking for a family car that would be comfortable for the three of us (have a 2 year old daughter), plus our baby close to arrive. After looking to some SUVs and some other mini Vans we knew this Kia was the one because the three of us (including my daughter), loved it since we went in to our test drive. It is a fun vehicle to drive with the standard CD player and cassete player. Its ride is very smooth, with its dual air conditioning controls we can easily accomodate my wifes and myself use.

  • Very satisfied - 2002 Kia Sedona

Purchased in anticipation of several long distance trips with three active children, and having the van makes all the difference in the world. Nice performance and handling, very comfortable ride, good use of space. No mechanical problems at all. A worthwhile car, and an excellent value at the asking price. Gas mileage isnt the greatest, but people dont buy large cars expecting great MPG. Ive gotten as high as 22 cruising at 80 with a fully loaded van and dual A/C blowing -- but it drops below 20 if you are climbing serious mountains or mix city driving.

  • Well Pleased - 2002 Kia Sedona
    By -

Its too early to give a realistic review but I wanted to say for the first 500 miles in the 2 days I have had it it it is great.I traded in a 99 Pontiac Montana loaded with 65,000 highway miles. It was falling apart. The Kia is tight, rides better and drives better thus far. Time will tell. Seems to be well worth the money.

  • New Kia Customer - 2002 Kia Sedona
    By -

Have about 700 miles on our new Sedona and are very pleased. The price was unbeatable. Only problems so far are a low "moaning" noise on occasion when AC is on and the motor is idling, and the remote lock system sometimes requires shutting one or two doors several times before getting an "all shut" signal. Have yet to return to the dealer to have these looked after.

  • Works For Me - 2002 Kia Sedona

Very nice highway and city driver. Just turned 70K, no major problems, but Ill need the major service, timing belt, etc and they hook you for that (who doesnt?). Hankook tires were replaced at 45K and I had it aligned and tires balanced. Luggage rack is actually useful. Easy entrance and exit, solid doors, solid, quiet car.

  • From Behemoth to Best - 2002 Kia Sedona
    By -

I drove a Chevy conversion van and wanted to downsize so searched via internet. Unfortunately, my perfect minivan didnt mesh with my pocketbook. Put off decision until last July I drove by a Kia dealer and saw the Sedona, checked it out and fell in love. It had everything I wanted at an affordable price. We bought it the next day without knowing much about it, but at least I knew what I was comparing it to. After putting 10,000 miles on it to date, I still love it.

Have 15K on it. Milege improved after 10K. Wife loves it. Plenty of Zip and smooth tranny. We like the tray between seats. Very well designed

  • Nice Price...Less Problems - 2002 Kia Sedona
    By -

We traded our Gr. Caravan for the EX. I enjoy the 5 speed transmission! It is a relief not to hear the whine of our old Caravans 3.3L, 4-speed going up and down the appalachian mountains around here. Kia has a real winner. Ive owned GM and Dodge and neither cruise control would maintain consistent speeds up and down these hills. The Sedona powers up and down without a hitch. My wife loves the loaded interior and our boys love all the neat compartments. No real complaints so far.
