This Year's Model Updates:

Kia joins the minivan rumble with the introduction of the Sedona, the lowest-priced minivan in America. Standard on the Sedona are such niceties as air conditioning, power windows, cruise control and auto on/off headlights. Upscale EX models get a CD player, interior wood trim and power front seats. All Sedonas benefit from Kia's impressive Long Haul Warranty with drivetrain protection for 10 years or 100,000 miles.

Pros:
  • Unbeatable price, attractive array of standard goodies, great warranty package.
Cons:
  • Missing some key minivan features, engine could use more power.

  • Pleased with our Sedona - 2002 Kia Sedona

Solid, Runs Great, Its my wifes, and she loves it too, EX model, leather, sun roof, CD player etc. and still paid just over $20,000 , Great warranty, biggest complaint is gas mileage, but at least it runs on regular, when I was checking on Toyota and Honda they both had to have premium, Honda has changed that since. Could not deal with overpriced Honda also hearing more and more complaints about Odyssey anyway. Might have considered a Sienna if price was right.

A lot of "bang for your buck". I test drove the Windstar, Montana, Venture and the Caravan. None were as attractive as the Sedona in looks or in price. I purchased the EX Luxury model. (with leather an sunroof). Most standard features on the Sedona were optional on all other vehicles, which, of course drove the cost out of reach. A very smooth ride and with the ABS feature and front wheel drive, made for some easy handling in snow and ice conditions.

  • It IS possible to like a van - 2002 Kia Sedona

We purchased in May 02. Got a steal on our trade-in and we ended up paying 24k (CANADIAN). Have had no problems as of yet, we are at the 15000 km mark already. It drives so well, my biggest regret is that it doesnt come with a standard tranny. Lots of room, although the trunk space could be made bigger. PLENTY of power. The gas mileage has improved dramatically since we started driving it. If you are in the minivan market, you have to consider this one, especially for the price. We test drove the car on a whim (we were going to settle with the MPV) and were convinced within the first 5 minutes of driving that we were going to buy the vehicle.

  • I Lied - 2002 Kia Sedona

After owning Kia Sportage & finding out the depreciation I said "I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER KIA". 3 yrs old, 60K miles and worth only $3.5K to $4K on trade at 6 dealers. I found this out after falling for the SEDONA. Tax, tag, title, out the door for $14,500 & my 1999 Sportage. May have done better with more time (had to leave for daughters wedding in 1 hr). 1,800 miles since purchase 11 days ago. We Love It. Highway 75-85mph 19.75mpg and climbing. 1st tank 16.3mpg.

Runs great looks great the family loves it and so does my wallet. Unbeatable warranty. The only thing I would change is the gas mileage.

  • Great deal - 2002 Kia Sedona

Just picked up my new Kia Sedona EX yesterday. We love it. We got ABS, Leather and Homelink for 21,500 + tax. Has many nice features. Rides well, easily power enough for minivan drivers. Unlike several other comments I read, we got 2 keyless remotes w/o even asking. Leather is sufficient, not like a Cadillac but very nice. We also got two-tone paint which makes the car look much more expensive. Not quite as roomy as some vans you can find, but for us (and for the $8,000 in savings) its fine. I would definitely recommend this vehicle. Hopefully we wont have to use the great warranty.

  • Finally an affordable, great minivan - 2002 Kia Sedona

To bad it had to come from Korea. American car manufacturers could learn a lot if they checked out the overseas competition. I have researched and driven every minivan on the market including the almighty Honda and could never justify the price tags until I read about and drove the Kia Sedona. The first weekend we owned it we put 600 miles on it. The Kia drove, rode and performed beyond my expectations. Of course only time will tell how well this van holds up but with the warranty that it has, the 5 year roadside assistance plus the $7,000.00 to $10,000.00 we saved I can sleep well at night.

  • Best Budget Minivan - 2002 Kia Sedona

Uninformed reviews say this is Sedona’s first year. It has been manufactured in Korea as the Carnival for over five years. Most kinks are gone. A lot of research went into this one. We bought a Blue 2002 EX with ABS, Moonroof, Cloth seats, and one-tone finish for $21.8K. We took it from Omaha to St Louis for a week and back and loved it the whole way.

  • Windstar No More - 2002 Kia Sedona

Traded our 99 Windstar. Love the Sedona! 2002 Sedona EX: Sun roof, HomeLink, Emerald Green / Silver two-tone with dark gray cloth interior. All for less than $20,500! About 1200 miles on it now and it just keeps getting better and better. EPA mileage ratings way low (15/20) - we see 17.5 to 18 in the city. This van is better than the Windstar in every respect. And the warranty: Wow!

  • So Far an Excellent Choice - 2002 Kia Sedona

We bought our first Kia this month. What a great vehicle. The quality of the vehicle and the options make this van a great package for the money. We have only put about 500 miles on the van to date but so far its a keeper.
