This Year's Model Updates:

The Kia Optima receives only minor revisions for the 2004 model year. The grille has been revised, 16-inch wheels are now standard on V6 models and the alloy wheels on the EX (last year's SE) have been redesigned. Finally, an in-glass antenna replaces the old power mast style unit from last year, but only on the EX and the LX with the optional cassette/CD audio system.

Pros:
  • Excellent warranty, pleasant highway ride, lots of features for the price.
Cons:

  • Why I Love The KIA Optima... - 2004 Kia Optima

Well first of all, please do not think that I just JUMPED into an Optima without knowing the car first. Working for Enterprise, I get to test out and drive pretty much every midrange vehicle on the market, from the Toyota Camry to the VW Passat. And given that the Camry, Accord and Passat are all very reliable cars and well respected, DO NOT count out the KIA Optima! From the FIRST day I sat behind the wheel of the Optima, I fell in love with it, despite my first love was the Mazda 3 & 6! The fact is that the Optima is fun yet practical and YES, VERY reliable. it makes an AWESOME purchase! If youre in the market to purchase a new car, please consider the Optima!

  • Awesome Car - 2004 Kia Optima

I love my car and the way it handles. It is sporty to me and handles well in curves. Maybe its not as strong in curves as a sports car. But its just as fun. Very reliable and a comfortable drive. The features inside are just what I need. The coverage they give you is excellent. The body style is sleek and wonderful. Wish they had more choices of color interiors. But its all gravy. Very, very satisfied with my car and will trade it in for a newer model in a year or so.

  • Good Bargain..... - 2004 Kia Optima

Just got my Optima LX V6 about a month ago, w/ ABS & spoiler for $15K. After looking at several brands for couple of months, this car is one of the good buys out there. Long warranty, nicely equipped, decent power, good rides, bargain basement price.

  • Well worth it - 2004 Kia Optima

The ride is smooth. Was very pleased with how comfortable the ride is in the ex v6. This car has sufficient power to merge or just to get moving on interstate. You dont realize how fast until you look down. My kids think the sound system is super. Cannot beat the warranty just have to make regular service appointments but tht is with any car. I would absolutely recommend this car to anyone. The EX V6 that is.

  • Should have got a honda - 2004 Kia Optima

Well its been almost 5 yrs and only 34k mi. For the most part the car has been ok, but there is a troubling problem with rust. If you live in a salt state like Ohio, do not buy this car. The 2004 and earlier optima has a bad under body rust problem which includes the sub frame. Things like metal brake disc shields have already rusted off and most hardware like hose clamps and other hardware in the rear are about gone. None of this is covered under their warranty. The drive train may last 10 years, but much of the underneath won’t be there.

  • We get our new engine next week. - 2004 Kia Optima
    By -

Weve had the car for three months, three weeks and 7800 miles. So far: Two check engine light issues, one moulding around the windshield issue, and one check engine, overheat, and oil light issue... resolution offered by dealer is new factory assembly line engine. Est. 10 days for installation. Needless to say, we are uneasy about the overall reliability.

  • My New Kia Optima - 2004 Kia Optima
    By -

My new car is extremly comfortable and it drives like a dream. I have purchased the Optima ES with the V6 and Leather trim. The interior is absolutly beautiful and filled with the ammentities of a much more expensive vehicle. For the money I could not find a better car with any better usable power or warranty. My only concern is that as of yet the mileage that is quoted I have yet to see I am only getting about 17 on the highway. But the engine is real strong and pulls away from a dead stop with ease. Thanks for letting me speak.
