This Year's Model Updates:

The Kia Optima receives only minor revisions for the 2004 model year. The grille has been revised, 16-inch wheels are now standard on V6 models and the alloy wheels on the EX (last year's SE) have been redesigned. Finally, an in-glass antenna replaces the old power mast style unit from last year, but only on the EX and the LX with the optional cassette/CD audio system.

Pros:
  • Excellent warranty, pleasant highway ride, lots of features for the price.
Cons:

for a car in the 20k range this was the nicest i have driven. it has virtually everything needed to make you feel as though it is a car in a higher price range. i have yet to have any mechanical problems and as the car is being broken in it is gaining more power. i was very skeptical when purchasing a car but after driving toyatas, hondas, nissans and many american models, none compared price wise and in features in this price range. i would and have recommended to many people to check this car out, and in the right color people will stop you and ask what kind of car it is!

I love this car....a friend had purchased one and I test drove it and immediately traded in my 2001 Galant in with only 35G miles on it- which I had planned on keeping for a long time due to low mileage. This car handles so much better than Galant and I love the styling and the price was almost unbelievable for only 12G for a new car in 2004!

I bought this car new in 2004. Aside from a CV axle issue starting around 50K miles, I have had no problems. I have bought tires, replaced the front brakes and done routine maintenance and thats it! She just rolled over 140,000 miles this past weekend and were still rocking along. Im looking forward to my next purchase: the 2011 Sorento.

I had drove several other cars before deciding on my Kia. It was loaded and under $20000 with the best warranty. I like it a lot, use to drive Nissans before they got to high. I like the V6 a lot, leather was nice to. So for that kind of stuff it would cost several $1000 more to buy a less loaded car.It is easy to park and see out of it.

I bought this car two weeks ago, I never thought I would own a Kia, but now I may never own anything else. This car is great, it has looks and performance. It has been mistaked from anything from a Mercedes to a Lincoln. I am proud to tell people it is a Kia instead. You cant beat this car, I dont even miss my Pontiac Grand Am GT.

I loved the car when I first got it, but I had so many little issues with it. First, I believe i replaced the head lights about 17 times, its OK on gas but now that the Car is 5 I have lots of rust the paint is going on it, the power steering has given me so many problems, and to get it replaced the cost is unreasonable for a vehicle that is suppose to be a good investment for your money... You pay for it in the end. I am looking for another car.

I just love my car.If you buy the EX V- 6 leather interior you will hard pressed to tell it from a 30,000+ dollar luxury car.

Just bought the car on 12/05. So far the only "problem" is how to program the homelink to open my garage door. Very good build quality

  • Decent Cheap Car - 2004 Kia Optima

I bought this car with 40k miles on it. It now has almost 105k and I havent had any major problems with it. I have kept up on my maintenance so that probably helps. I just had to have my alignment fixed because my tires kept popping, but that was only $50. If you keep up with the maintenance this car should last you!

Financing was great! Thru KIA. Car has excellent style & design. I was really surprised at the performance! Pretty fast for a sedan. Overall I was very pleased with the car. KIAs have a reputation for a cheap transportation car but this is a luxury car
