This Year's Model Updates:

The Kia Optima receives only minor revisions for the 2004 model year. The grille has been revised, 16-inch wheels are now standard on V6 models and the alloy wheels on the EX (last year's SE) have been redesigned. Finally, an in-glass antenna replaces the old power mast style unit from last year, but only on the EX and the LX with the optional cassette/CD audio system.

Pros:
  • Excellent warranty, pleasant highway ride, lots of features for the price.
Cons:

My wife and I have been looking for a new car for about 5 months. When I first went to the car lots to find a new car I had sticker shock. I couldnt see why cars should cost so much. One day we decided to take a drive to Pocatello Idaho and see what the new Kias Looked like. They are a very stylish car. The front end kinda looks like a BMW . We test drove the car and I just fell in love with it. Yeah it dont have ABS brakes on it but you know ABS brakes wherent always around. For the price of the Car we got a really good deal and they are going to stand behind it with a 100,000 thousand mile waranty.

I bought a 2003 Optima. I was Newvous about buying a Kia, but not anymore. The car has been great. People are always asking me what type of car it is. When I tell that is is a Kia they are shocked. Kia has come along way since the Sephia and it shows.

Bought this car new! Have had no major problems at all. Key to any car performing to your expectations..... Maintenance, follow the schedule. I have replaced tires once at 60 K along with timing belt with required maintenance. Oil and filter EVERY 3,000 miles. 2 head lamp builds an 1 set of brake pads ( Front ) I will buy another Kia again! I worked for a GM dealer for 21 years .. thought we built great cars..... NOT!

I have owner a jaguar in the past. I recently purchased this Kia. It it perfect in every way. It compares much the same to the jag in hugging the road and overall comfort.I not only would not trade it for anyother make or model; but I do intend on buying another when ready.!!! Two of my very close friends have also purchase the same car after riding in mine! Great Car !!

  • My Kia Optima is just excellent! - 2004 Kia Optima

I really enjoy my Optima. The drive is excellent, smooth running engine. While most 4 cylinder cars I tested lost alot of power when I flipped on the air, you dont notice any lack of power with my optima. I love the interior features alot. And it was all at an excellent price. I would definately recomend the optima to anyone.

I absolutely love my kia. It is fun to drive, looks great, and is laid out for easy use and convenience. I can not say enough about how much value I have received for what Ive paid for it.

I purchased the car used with 59K miles. I now have 63K miles and have already had to replace the power steering hose ($200 +) and now the power door locks are messed up and literally lock me in the car. I have had to climb out the window, this might be ok if I were Bo Duke. It does have a smooth ride. Sometimes when I first start the car it will stall or take a second to get going, sorta like its not getting gas. The car looks pretty but looks can be deceiving. Dont buy. Run away.

It is a awesome car, but minor problems are going wrong. I commute 65 miles a day. great gas mileage nice and comfortable. The only problem is , is that my trunk latch broke the other day. Now today my front door on the drivers side wouldnt open from the inside and out. It is a fixable problem. The only thing is I look like a retard going in and out of my car just to drive. I now have a paranoia that the other door will go. Or that my key will break!!!

  • GAS MPG - 2004 Kia Optima

The odometer reads 34,400 so far and going strong. I commute pretty often now and Ive been going from Georgia to Maryland, VA or NC. I recently checked my MPGs and was pretty happy to see it is around 32.4 MPG. I think thats great since the EPA highway is only supposed to be 27. The car has a few mysterious dings. Other than that it has been a very comfortable ride. I believe it should reach 100,000 with no problem. I plan on fixing the timing chain at 60,000 and will see if I have a problem after that.
