Overview & Reviews
The Kia Optima receives only minor revisions for the 2004 model year. The grille has been revised, 16-inch wheels are now standard on V6 models and the alloy wheels on the EX (last year's SE) have been redesigned. Finally, an in-glass antenna replaces the old power mast style unit from last year, but only on the EX and the LX with the optional cassette/CD audio system.
- Excellent warranty, pleasant highway ride, lots of features for the price.

By judychitt - January 15 - 2:00 amthe 2004 Kia Optima is an affordable luxury mid size car. Great visibility and handling. Sleek lines and comfortable seating. The manual transmission is smooth and easy to shift and fun to drive! the extra defrost vents on the front doors are just one example of creative and useful engineering. and you cant beat the Kia warranty and customer service that Kia provides.

By neededacar - October 17 - 10:00 amI originally went for the least expensive, highest mpg I could find. The Rio was just to small and offered no extras to speak of. I purchased a demo with 15K on it already. Very Impressive functionality and preformance for a comfortable vehicle with 28.7 open road mpg.

By HappyKiaDriver - July 23 - 10:00 amAfter reading a few of these reviews I decided to post one of my own. I have owned my Kia less than 4 months and have put over 10,000 miles one it. While I must admit the engine is a little noise at idle the ride on the road is extremely quiet. Trying to figure out where other people get the noisy comment from. I have been extremely pleased with the ride and fuel milage from my Kia. It is a nice sedan to drive, not a sporty performer but I knew that when I bought the car. Over all for the money I think the car is a comfortable and quiet ride and an enjoyable car to own.

By kia opt - July 17 - 9:53 amA good car overall and bang for you buck. I had some minor issues which the dealer took care and did not had to pay. The car has been very reliable however do notice a jurk from trans once in a while if I dont change the trans oil every year. Expensive to maintian the car because of parts and labour is costly. The handling is decent but the tires could have been bigger. Ride quality is excellent and comfy. The v6 engine is outstanding when exceling. Interior built quality could be more durable. But I am not complaining as I have 125K miles and the car is going strong.

By Mike - June 23 - 1:13 pmTraded my 2000 Kia Sephia, the worst car ever made in the history of the world, for the 04 Optima. Had decided to give Kia another shot at showing me they knew what they were doing. Excellent move - I now drive a car with styling that makes BMW and Mercedes owners turn their heads, performance is excellent, and the build quality (unlike the 00 Sephia) is exceptional. Other than having to replace the factory-original Kumho tires at 18,000 miles (Kumho - these things disintegrate early and often), Ive had to do oil changes and thats it. Fantastic reliability.

Oops, I lost in the used car game - 2004 Kia Optima
By nbafreak2007 - April 4 - 2:00 pmI bought this car in the summer of 09 with 63k miles. I had i checked out and all was well. That was the only thing that has gone right with the car. It is a money pit, I have had to replace the Clutch, flywheel, pressure plate etc along with the timing belt and water pump, and now the drivers side door will not unlock itself. This may be the worst car I have ever purchased I have invested more than 2500 in a car worth only 3000. I will never by a Kia or a Hyundai again and would recommend that no one else buy one either.

Meh...just a basic car - 2004 Kia Optima
By shannonm1 - March 1 - 4:01 amThis car is very reliable, but no fun. The style is very bland inside and out, there is no power behind acceleration, the V6 guzzles gas like an SUV or truck would. I owned a little 4 cylinder Hyundai Elantra before this car, and I really miss it. I went from filling the gas tank every 2 weeks to filling it every week now. This car is like a tank, heavy, safe, reliable, I would take it anywhere, but have no fun getting there. I just dont like the way it handles. I got this car with 75,000 miles on it, so Im probably stuck with it for awhile. It hasnt broken down on me yet.
