An AM/FM/CD stereo and a tilt steering wheel are now standard on all 2004 Jeep Wrangler models. A new aluminum wheel design is standard on Sahara models and optional on Sport models. Right-hand-drive versions are also available for fleet utility service. A Columbia Edition option package is also new for 2004.
- Cheap, fun to drive, classic styling, go-anywhere capability.
- Soft top a handful to manipulate, difficult ingress-egress, slow steering, bouncy suspension on the street.

Jeep Rubicon - 2004 Jeep Wrangler
By RubiOwner - April 3 - 2:00 amMy new Rubicon almost immediately destroyed my life - my wife, and oldest son were constantly trying to take it away from me. I broke down and bought a second Wrangler for them to fight over - a 2003 Sport. I bought my first Jeep back in 1977. They have sure come a long way since then. Both my Jeeps are hard tops - they are asy to remove and the heater and A/C both work better. Gas mileage is unjustifiably poor - the excuses dont cut it. My bigger, heavier Suburban with a much bigger engine gets better mileage than either one of the Jeeps and there is nothing aerodynamic about a Suburban. Expect 15-17 TOPS!

Great car... - 2004 Jeep Wrangler
By socalbound2004 - March 29 - 10:00 amI recently purchased a jeep wrangler, and its definitely the most fun car I have ever driven. The manual 6 cyl has lots of power, great pickup, and the ride is smooth. It sits high above the road, so you see pretty much everything. The only bad part about the jeep is that the ride can be a bit noisy, and unless you buy it new, its difficult to find a decently priced wrangler with air conditioning. All of these negatives are easily overshadowed by the positives of the car.

By M Mc - February 20 - 2:00 amJeeps latest Wrangler is a fitting addition to a line that can trace its roots back to the Jeep of WW2. You can go anywhere and do anything in this vehicle. Words of warning - its not a car. If youre looking for a car ride and car comforts, look elsewhere. The interior is utilitarian and clean, the ride is solid, and the cornering is much better than I expected for a Jeep.

By JEEP4LIFE - February 9 - 4:56 pmJeep Wranglers rule! I bought my 04 Sahara a month ago, and it is incredible. The only 4X4 that I could find that wasnt made mostly of plastic. They cut all the gadgets and gizmos. I knew going into it that 16-18MPG would be normal, so I cant complain. The engine is powerful, stock suspension is very capable on trails. I found it interesting that people said the freeway drive is too bouncy and noisy. With the hard top on, it is just as quiet as my wifes Integra, the soft top isnt bad either. It is very smooth on freeways. Yeah, when you hit bumps on smaller roads,you do bounce a little, but it is a Jeep! Take it off-roading and you will see what I mean.

By Rachel - January 25 - 8:00 pmOverall, my little beast is a dream come true! I love everything about it (except the gas mileage, but that comes with the territory)! I put a 3.5" Super Flex Rubicon Express Lift Kit suspension lift and a 1.25" body lift to fit the 305x70x16 (original rims) tires. Shes a little monster now! I couldnt have asked for a more fun vehicle to own and drive. Just driving around and watching the heads turn make me love it just that much more!

By Brian Peterson - November 15 - 10:00 amMake special note to yourself when driving a Wrangler that the wheels are very prone to locking up on dry pavement. Ive taken tactical driving courses & have driven everything from Police cruizers & armored trucks to Ambulances-However, my 2004 X model is still @ the body shop. (As embarrassing as it is) At 40mph the vehicle locked & slid one& a half car lengths on dry pavement.

I was worried about the engine, but the 6cl does a great job... its fun Ive had it in mud and on the beached of NCs outer banks ... Ive even towed a boat ... youll love this vehicle

By badness - October 9 - 10:00 amDo not buy a Jeep Wrangler! Most importantly, do not buy an X model with half doors! Especially do not buy one in silver with black soft top! And do not even think of buying the Columbia Edition! Its all mine and you cant have any! You would be happier with an SUV of some sort (its a jeep thing).

My 4th Jeep - 2004 Jeep Wrangler
By psnolte - October 4 - 10:00 amThis is my 4th Jeep. I tradeded in my 02 Cherokee Overland for a Rubicon. My CJs/Wranglers have been the most dependable vehicles Ive owned. Theyre simple and easy to work on. As long as you know what yourre getting into, I cant see how youd be disappointed. The Rubicon is designed for off road use, although it rides fine on the highway. Because of the gearing, its not the quickest horse out of the gate however. If you want more car like performance, choose a traditional Wrangler. One tip: always keep up with the drivetrain maintenance.
