Finally replacing the boxy Cherokee that has been in production since 1984, the handsome all-new 2002 Jeep Liberty serves as the affordable SUV in Jeep's lineup. Borrowing styling cues from the 1997 Jeep Dakar and 1998 Jeepster concept vehicles, the Liberty is available in two trim levels with your choice of two- or four-wheel drive, a four- or six-cylinder engine and a manual or automatic transmission.

  This is my 3rd Jeep vehicle and I have only good things to say about them. The dealerships however are another issue. All of my experiences with Jeeps have been good and I highly recommend them.

  The 2002 Jeep Liberty is reliable and handles like a much larger vehicle. The turning radius is outstanding, as is the visibility. The access to fold down the seats for hauling is easy from either the rear or the sides of the vehicle. I would reccommend this to anyone who is considering an SUV that is not in need of its own zip code.

  This Jeep handles like a Wrangler, a little stiff steering, but other than that, it has fair fuel efficiency, great handling, and great creature comforts.

  so far so good,I feel the jeep is fun to drive handles well has good pep.you have to be careful in the rain it has a habit of sliding a little because of its pep.when rear windows are down wind makes a wierd noise that i cant handle and have to roll them up, no idea what it is. had a 300m before thid and found it to be horrible,so i was alittle worried about another chrysler family vehicle but so far so good no problems in 7 months but it does like gas

  A Real Combination of SUV/Car Like Feel - 2002 Jeep Liberty

  Great looks, comfort, fun to drive. I test drove several mini-SUVs and this was the best one on the market, with the exception of gas mileage. The Liberty handles well and glides down the rode. The interior styling is innovative and unique with the two tone color, white instrument panel and chrome accents. Adequate storage with the exception of sun glass holder. The overhead console is nice, but outside temperature reading is 5 degrees high all the time. On my old Grand Cherokee it was always accurate.

  My Honda CR-Vs performance at 60k miles was getting questionable so I traded into a used Liberty with almost every option. I really love it, as I am very picky. It handles well and has a powerful engine which makes driving it a hoot! It feels like an expensive luxury vehicle though it was quite affordable.

  I have had this Jeep for about 6 years and it has been fun. The only trouble that I have had is replacing the cam shaft sensor and O2 sensor ($78 max). I suggest getting a new intake system, the stock intake is heavy (15 lbs) and bulky. Also, to make life easier for the people who cry about fuel, just replace the fuel pump with a performance pump ($330) in order for you to be able to get what you want. I now get 27 mpg/19 mpg, and yes, thats on the 3.7 6cyl 4wd model.

  My husband bought my Jeep for me on my 35 birthday. Fully loaded. And I love everything about it. I drive from the Country into Town everyday. 60 miles round trip and it a great ride. People ask me why didnt I get a car. My response I dont like sitting on the ground. My kids and their friends think I have the coolest SUV in the neighborhood. Since it is red, we put the Red Hawaiian print seat covers. Looks like a real beach Suv.When I bought my jeep I had the only one in my town now they are everywhere.

  Bought new and now have 104,000 on the Jeep. Had been pretty reliable but am now having multiple engine problems. The Check engine light issue and mechanics have been unable to fix. Vehicle runs very rough.
