Overview & Reviews
Jaguar introduced its youth-oriented X-Type last year, so 2003 holds little changes for the baby Jag. There's a slight reduction in the price of the base model, and electrochromic mirrors are standard on all trim levels. Cars equipped with the 3.0-liter mill now get 17-inch wheels and a CD player as standard equipment.
- Reasonable base pricing, sporty handling, all-wheel drive, currently the only Jaguar available with a manual transmission.
- Spartan interior design, some less-than-prestigious Ford-themed switchgear and exterior styling cues, price goes up with options faster than you can say "Ford Mondeo."

My Cat - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By Tami Herman - April 15 - 11:40 amThis car has provided not only a fun driving experience but also an elevated sense of self esteem. Its been reliable for this Northeasterner and outpaced our Volvo Cross Country in severe weather conditions.

Its A Jag - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By jaghappy - December 2 - 2:00 amYes, it is an entry level luxury car and it is fair to call it a kitty as opposed to a cat. But it IS a Jag and it has been nothing but pleasure to own and drive.

Just Great - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By keith - November 12 - 2:00 amBought the car with 60K miles and now after just over 2 years have 144,000 miles. Only just replaced brakes, replaced radiator overflow tank and put in new plugs at 100K. Have done nothing else. Gas mileage is great. Paid $10K and get offers for $7-8K all the time. Most people think it is a 20K+ car. Great for road trips. Handles great in all areas. I expect to easily get another 100K miles out of this car.

Great Car - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By Steven - September 15 - 1:50 amIts a Jag and it is one of the most reliable cars cars I have ever owned (and I have had many) in 4 years it has only been back to the dealer 1 time for a loose front seat. The free maintenance to 40K has been nice. Overall it has been a good experience. Mileage has been good for an AWD car @ 22.5 mpg. I am very happy, thanks to Ford, Jaguar builds a nice car and you dont need to get a tow truck contract to go with it. I am happy happy happy.

This is not a car, its a Jaguar! - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By Minetta Robinson - July 4 - 2:00 amI love this car. It rides beautifully and I love the "get up and go" of it. The trunk space is great as well. I never thought I would own a Jaguar, but now that I do, I am hooked.

Newbie - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By mcyrwv - December 8 - 10:00 amMy x-type is barely off the showroom floor, but I am -so far- impressed with the performance and build of the car. Spent countless hours researching features and price. After checking out the "Car Discussion" forums, was able to find a dealer (Rahal, Wexford, PA) and negotiate a terrific deal. This is a dream car with classic styling, despite the "Ford-like" criticisms by some reviewers. My experience places this car in the "superb" category. The x- type provides a lot of bang for the buck. If youre looking for a distinctive automobile at an affordable price, consider the X-Type Jauar. Zooooooom!

Stylish and Performance for 30k$ !!! - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By Doolie1 - November 1 - 10:00 amI own the 3.0 and it has power to spare..great pickup and on the road will run with more than enough power to land you in jail! The car also has very tight cornering and nice breaking while still having a smooth ride. You do hear a bit of road noise inside the car though. The interior is nicely done(for a car in this price range especially) although I do agree with others that the seat belt "snaps" are cheap and plastic(directly out of a ford). Otherwise the leather is great, nice shifter and dash. Bottom Line, this car is not a 50,000$ car but offers styling on that level. It performs excellent for the price and seems to be nice quaility.
