This Year's Model Updates:

Jaguar introduced its youth-oriented X-Type last year, so 2003 holds little changes for the baby Jag. There's a slight reduction in the price of the base model, and electrochromic mirrors are standard on all trim levels. Cars equipped with the 3.0-liter mill now get 17-inch wheels and a CD player as standard equipment.

Pros:
  • Reasonable base pricing, sporty handling, all-wheel drive, currently the only Jaguar available with a manual transmission.
Cons:
  • Spartan interior design, some less-than-prestigious Ford-themed switchgear and exterior styling cues, price goes up with options faster than you can say "Ford Mondeo."

  • Road noise is my only complaint - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

Small, sporty and fun to drive with a lot of pep compared to most cars of its size.

  • what a car!! - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

The jaguar x type is a fantastic auto!! Deserves a look if you are looking for a luxury mid sized car. Best deals seem to be buying one after it has been leased for a year or less, with 10000 or less miles. Handles the wisconsin snow like no car I have ever driven. We are x type owners for life!! Handles extremely well in any conditions and has power to spare. The sport seats really hug your rear end and not that its too uncomfortable but you do have to get used to it.

  • Kudos to X-Type - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

Before buying the X-Type I used to drive an XJ8. Although I love the style and ride of the XJ8, I always felt that the XJ8 was too much car for me (I am 5 tall and petite). The X-Type is a glove fit for me and I am so pleased that I made the change. My husband who has an XR series, was firmly against the X-Type predicting a litany of problems, etc. Happily, I have had no problems. The X-Type is sporty and stylish with many of the interior features of the XJ8. The trunk space is much larger than in the XJ8 and the rear seats fold down with minimal effort if more space is needed. I feel so connected with my car and Ill be in the market again within the next two years for another X-Type!

  • Great Buy,Great Value - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

This Car is the value of the century! I walked into the showroom and got $6,000 OFF Sticker Price. When I found out what the sticker price was to begin with I thought it was good value. The saleman treated me like a prince. It was the first positive experience buying a new car in years. The only issue I had with the car was that with the sport button was pushed, the car had really low fuel economy. I was later told that I should only use the sport setting on Christmas Day. Besides that, the car has classed up my act.

Very pleased with this car. Purchased in 2006 in near immaculate condition. Ride, look, comfort are wonderful. The used price was amazing (with many extras from the dealership - shopping around and being prepared was very useful).

  • You have to get one - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

The only thing that i will say that takes time to get use to is the brakes, the gas pedal, and the transmission. The brakes take time to get use to because in a way you kinda have to push harder than you think to get stoped where you want to. The gas pedal takes time to get use to because it is very light and touchy, and very responsive. The Transmission takes time to get use to because when you first start driveing when the engine is still cold it seams like the engine is doing alot of shifting, and it you can feel the shifting, but as soon as the engine is warmed up the Jag ride AWSOME!!!!

  • Disregard Professional Reviews - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

I do not care what the professional reviewers say. This is a FUN car to drive. Heads turn, as well. Test drove the BMW 3-Series, the stiff Audi A-4 and the baby Mercedes. The Jag wins hands-down for styling and comfort.

  • Good Entry Level Luxury Car - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

I love this car. Drove both the 3.0 liter and the 2.5 liter and did not find much difference. The styling is fantastic. The car did need an alignment if the first week and the paint started to chip. Jaguar immediately corrected these problems. I also heard a supercharged model is coming in a few years.

  • Is you or is you aint? - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

This sweetheart is no baby. The x-type is a proud new standard bearer in the small European sport coupe tradition. And thank goodness because I had been worried about how to replace my Alfa 164 being loathe to purchase some hyped up classless German go-cart diminutive offspring of a tank. This is a car designed for people. This car also isnt an American or Japanese marshmallow with leather standard. If you get upset because you feel the road under your seat, this is not the car for you. But if you want a well-built, luxuriously appointed, fun to drive car that lets you feel the road, I have driven nothing better.

I bought the 2.5 x type in september 2001. Probably should of bought the 3.0 liter, oh well. Power is sufficient, alpine upgrade a must for music lovers. Great car, so far no problems 19,564 miles, great service at any dealership. I drove the A4, 325, c class mercedes and the decision was easy
