Overview & Reviews
Jaguar introduced its youth-oriented X-Type last year, so 2003 holds little changes for the baby Jag. There's a slight reduction in the price of the base model, and electrochromic mirrors are standard on all trim levels. Cars equipped with the 3.0-liter mill now get 17-inch wheels and a CD player as standard equipment.
- Reasonable base pricing, sporty handling, all-wheel drive, currently the only Jaguar available with a manual transmission.
- Spartan interior design, some less-than-prestigious Ford-themed switchgear and exterior styling cues, price goes up with options faster than you can say "Ford Mondeo."

Jaguar X-Type 2003 - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By Jaquar Owner - September 19 - 1:46 pmThe Jaguar X-Type 2.5L has the stance of champion race car but, unfortunately, its designers and engineers forgot about the power curve. Its power to weight is insufficient to move it quickly from a standing start even if you jump on the accelerator. If you want that kind of performance, dont buy this car. For me, that didnt matter, the car rides like a dream in all weather conditions, tracks straight and true and no amount of snow can stop it. The sound system is excellent. If you like cruising, this car will hum along at 100 mph. all day without a problem. Remember: The X-Type was bred for the autobahn not the drag strip. If thats what youre looking for, this is the car for you.

Flawless - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By H Pharzd - August 2 - 9:50 amThe ride is excellent for a small vehicle. The all wheel drive and size makes it a luxury compact. Easy to park, drive... All service for the vehicle is included. Everytime the car is serviced it is completely detailed at no extra cost. I have wanted a Jaguar since 1975. I have always liked their looks. The Jaguar is 3 years old and I still get compliments on it. If you are looking for a respected people car buy a Jaguar. If you like harsh ride and odd controls buy German.

Excellent - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By tdk - July 30 - 10:00 amThis car is superior to all others tested in the $30-40k range: Acura TL/CL: Minuses - head room, front wheel drive, sound system, whiny engine, suspension dampening. 3 series BMW: Minuses - Inferior sound system, cabin size-especially width. Jaguar much more car for the money. Volvo: Nice for additional$10k. The X-Series Jaguar is an almost perfect combination of sports/luxury sedan.

Great Style & Substance - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By JaguarFan - June 18 - 10:00 amI spent six months researching entry level luxury vehicles. I narrowed the selection down to the Mercedes 240 and the Jaguar X-Type. On the criteria of style, features and driving, the Jaguar was my choice. I love it more each time I drive it!

Niiiiice Cat !! - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By Ad-man - March 7 - 2:00 amThis car pleases the driver in every way. From the tight handling to the smooth ride. Interior amenities are superb. (The seats seem pretty firm at first, but they make you love them with a little use) I have a near base 2.5 automatic. First impression is little weak off line until you are serious, then the claws come out! Exterior says JAG in no uncertain terms, and truly grabs attention. Great Car!

Awesome Car Awesome Service - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By jjmccain - October 15 - 2:00 amAs a previous Audi A4 and BMW 323i owner, I know great entry level luxury sedans. Service is the differentiating factor here. BMW service is the most awful, painful experience ever! Audi is great, but the old A4 was too tight inside. The X-type gives you performance and a service/dealership experience far superior to BMW or Audi. To the car - great car inside and out for an unbelievable price. We got the factory lease deal and had a no haggle price. Wood dash, great leather, and all-wheel drive makes this car hard to beat.

Excellent - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By Par - October 5 - 10:00 amOutstanding car. Bought two cars at the same time - BMW-xi and Jaguar X-type and like Jaguar more. Design - excellent, fuel economy - 30 ml/gl at 65 ml/h, comfort - excellent. Price - got 6000 discount from MSRP. Reliability - do not know yet.
