Overview & Reviews
Jaguar beefs up its presence in the luxury category with the X-Type, a brand-new model that brings the company's range to four. The X-Type is a fresh breed of cat for the manufacturer: it's Jaguar's first-ever all-wheel-drive vehicle, and it's priced to tap the entry-luxury segment.
- Reasonable pricing, sporty handling, currently the only Jaguar available with a manual tranny.
- Spartan interior design, some less-than-prestigious Ford-themed switchgear and exterior styling cues, price goes up with options faster than you can say "Ford Mondeo."

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE JAGUAR ! - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By 1STJAG - October 7 - 2:00 am***** THIS IS THE PERFECT JAGUAR FOR SOMEONE LIVING IN THE NORTHEAST OR SNOW BELTS ***** All Wheel Drive is just awesome. Great control in first few snow storms. 2.5 6 cyl performs pretty much the way it should w/hp. This vehicle is equipped with all premium & sport packages. This loads the JAG right up. No squeeks or rattles. Fit & finish is great. Trunk is usable especially with folding rear seats. Leather heated seats are superb. Automatic transmission shifts smooth. Traction/stability control adds to vehicle alot. I would highly recommend. Great road feel. This JAG performs for the money.

X-Type is "All that AND more" - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By TommyE - September 22 - 7:06 amHavent had mine too long but love it completely. It replaces a 18 year old Acura. Gets better mileage (avg. 21 city) is absolutely stunning to look at and turns heads everywhere I go. This isnt just an automobile, its rolling artwork. When I showed it to my friends the most heard thing they say is, "Oh my god, its so beautiful!" This thing feeds my ego quite nicely. I cant image any other car making me happier. I am very very satisfed.

THIS IS THE ONE....! - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By NOAH KEATON JR. - September 2 - 10:00 amME WIFE AND I BOTH LOVE THE LOOK OF THE CAR , IF THERE WAS ONE WORD TO SAY HOW WE FEEL ABOUT THE JAGUAR X-TYPE IT WOULD BE "COOOOOOL".THE CAR IS FUN TO DRIVE WITH THE SPORT SHIFT AND THE RIDE IS VERY NICE EVEN ON LONG TRIPS.BUT THE ONE THING THAT WE BOTH LOVE IS THE LOOKS YOU GET WHEN YOUR FRIENDS AND OTHER POEPLE SEE YOU GETTING IN OR OUT OF THE CAR,AND THE LOOKS YOU GET WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING IT.WE HAVE NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THE CAR AND THE DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD THE CAR TO US.WAY TO GO JAGUAR OF TAMPA.

X-Type is pure class and a solid value - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By JagOwner - July 21 - 10:00 amPurchased my 2003 X-Type 2.5 5spd and it is an incredible car. Very solid build quality, no defects found yet (and Im very picky), and wonderful design features. It really stands out in a crowded market segment, and is not a "Me too" kind of car. I compared this car to many others, but none could compare in terms of functionality (AWD), style, standard equipment (connolly leather, maple wood trim), and price. Dealer treatment has been absolutely 1st rate. You would think I had paid $100K for the vehicle. Concerned about what youve heard about past Jaguars? Dont be. This new X is a force to be reckoned with. A lot of bang for the buck.

Its far better than I suspected - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By Rich - July 2 - 11:50 pmI just passed the 60,000 mile mark on my 02 X-Type 3.0 with five-speed manual. The car has about all the options, including GPS NAV and the CD changer. I recently had one maintenance problem with the car and that was the coolant thermostat intermittably stuck at about 58,000 miles. It fully convered on Jags Special Edition warranty. No charge to me. Other than that, the cars been trouble free.

Jaguar x-type initial thoughts - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By DAC17 - April 1 - 8:00 amHad the car for about a month. No problems with it. Had at least 10 people (unasked) tell me how much they loved the looks of the car. The interior is typical Brit; gorgeous and aromatic! Great lease deals going on; interest rates about 1.6%, and good discounts. Early reviews in Edmunds probably didnt help residuals (not that Jags are very good residual-wise anyway)

Beautiful and an excellent value - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By Minimac - March 10 - 5:10 pmI purchased this car used from the local Jaguar dealer with the 6 year 100,000 mile certified warranty, which made this car an incredible value. It was $2,000 - $3,000 less then most new American sedans that had no features. This is a beautiful automobile. The all wheel drive is worth every penny, including the reduction in gas mileage. The 5 speed automatic is perfectly matched for the 2.5 litre engine. More horsepower would be a plus, but mid-range acceleration is still darned impressive considering this engines displacement. Great car for the money! As good as any European sedan at a lower price, better than most others.

Car shakes and wont accelerate over 40 - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By alex sholom - February 10 - 8:10 pmI have a jaguar X type 2.5 and when i would accelerate the car would shake and slow down as if running out of fuel. I changed the fuel filter but that didnt solve it even though the fuel filter was almost clogged. I tried changing sensors and thought it was the transmission but the reason was when i was washing the engine water got into the spark plugs and was blocking off the spark. I blew out all the water with an air compressor then put in the spark plugs and it works like a charm ever since. hopefully this can be helpful to somebody.
