Overview & Reviews
Jaguar beefs up its presence in the luxury category with the X-Type, a brand-new model that brings the company's range to four. The X-Type is a fresh breed of cat for the manufacturer: it's Jaguar's first-ever all-wheel-drive vehicle, and it's priced to tap the entry-luxury segment.
- Reasonable pricing, sporty handling, currently the only Jaguar available with a manual tranny.
- Spartan interior design, some less-than-prestigious Ford-themed switchgear and exterior styling cues, price goes up with options faster than you can say "Ford Mondeo."

Baby Jag Thrill to Drive - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By eburford - March 19 - 2:00 amThis JAG 3.0L is a thrill to drive. AWD provides safety, and the 3.0L automatic provides more than enough power. While driving at VERY high speed, everyone in the car feels very SAFE. Id recommend the 3.0L, not the 2.5L. Stick with the auto transmission and enjoy the J-gate automatic to control the gears, particularly when slowing down for freeway offramps. I love this car.

Driving Xcellence - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By Sammit - March 14 - 3:13 pmThis Jag is the perfect blend of luxury, sport, and family practicality. It is art on wheels and you dont see one around every corner like a BMW or MB. Dont listen to the reviews that complain about its relationship to Ford. This car is pure Jaguar. It looks and feels like a $50,000 car, but lay off the options and it wont cost you any more than the SUVs and minivans your friends are buying!

Overall Great Car - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By Brad - February 12 - 7:20 amI bought my X-Type used a little over two years ago. I have loved every minute of it. I have not had any reliability issues with the car at all. I have only had it in to the dealer for routine service. Also, the 2.5L V6 has more than enough power for daily driving. Before I bought the car, I had read several reviews stating that the car was underpowered. Unless youre buying this car to do drag racing, this is not the case. I find it has as much, or even more power than my last car - a Infiniti I35 with a 3.5L V6. The X-Types AWD system also has a leg up on the BMW 325xi. This is a great car for the price!

Convert - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By Geechee - December 16 - 10:00 amWent in to buy my 3rd Infiniti, my folks and brother also have Infinitis. Heart set on the new little rocket, G35. After almost a 10 year relationship with local dealer, I was told no deals and the car would have $1000 tacked on. Thought about the I35. On my way home I pulled into the Jag dealer looking for a pre-owned Jag. Drove out in a 03 X-Type. With the premium pkg, DSC, and Alpine, it was LESS than the offer on the G35. Though the X is not the fastest off the line, it passes without fail. Solid feel, quality feel, and looks that draw admirers. What a value!

Worth every penny. - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By Mainekayaker - December 5 - 2:00 amI have a 2.5 with the sport package. The car is great! It is simply a pleasure to drive. The interior is nicer than my brothers BMW 3 series. Trunk space is amazing for a car this size. It just is a great car in every detail.

All I hoped for and more - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By Jonty12 - October 31 - 12:30 amThe build quality in my X-Type is excellent. No squeaks or rattles, nothing broken. The cars a blast to drive. More fun than my Eclipse GSX. Smooth manual transmission allows for great acceleration and passing speed. Fantastic cornering ability. The ride is so quiet you dont realize how fast youre going (100 mph sneaks up). You arent jarred by every bump like you are in some of the competition. The sound system is superb, and the navigation system is first rate. Im very pleased.

Traded both of my Mercedes on a 2003! - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By Ron Zarantenello - October 22 - 2:00 amThis 30-something, single urban male was ready to purchase Mercedes #7 when I decided to try out the (03 2.5, auto) X-Type, based on a friends comments of his 2002 model. WOW! What a fun (not so little) car. Insurance costs went DOWN! I love the handling with the AWD - the Benz would just sit and spin when pulling away from a stop light in wet conditions. This car just wants to go! Summary: Love It!

Jaguar Suprise - must read - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By S LIFESON - September 22 - 10:00 amIf you thought a Jaguar was for older, rich people because of past models and prices - this vehicle is for you. I drove BMW, Volvo, A4, C230, IS300 - there was no issue once I saw, researched and drove a x-type Jag. I ordered the car in June 2001, took delivery in Sept. 2001. I couldnt be happier. Excellenct ext/int styling, awesome grip on the turns and more. I recommend the upgrade of the alpine stereo a must for music lovers. Dont worry about the reliablilty concerns other people may say about Jag. You cant lose if your jag needs work, they lend you another - Enjoy the ride

Great little car - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By Tom - July 22 - 4:20 pmI bought this car because of its curb appeal and AWD. To date and 55000 miles later, I am not disappointed. I opted for standard transmission and the 3.0 engine and the car revs nicely when needed. Not a problem uphill or to pass at all. Gas mileage is a matter of driving styles, the Jag gives me 21-23 city and 23-25 highway. The car stills turns heads wherever I drive it
