Cons:
  • Low horsepower rating, some cheap interior materials here and there.

  • Great Value - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I enjoy driving my Tuscon. Its really great in the snow. Last winter I drove from Vermont to Connecticut in a huge snowstorm and my Tuscon handled so well. I do wish the fuel economy was better. I do alot of around town driving and I mostly get right around 19 or 20mpg. On trips about 25mpg. There could be better leg room for the driver. Im not overly tall..510.5" and I just wish I could push the seat back one more click when its fully extended. Passengers who ride in the rear tell me its comfortable. Three small people can fit in the back seat but 2 average sized adults are comfortable. The sound system is good. Need more storage space in the front and a better positioned cup holders

I love my car, though it looks like a rhinoceros. Lots of interior room, great Heat & A/C. Smooth, quiet ride. Inexpensive enough that I am not paranoid about keeping in shiny. Good automobile for a gal looking for a SUV.

  • Poor gas mileage - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

We bought our Hyundai Tucson to get better gas mileage. The sticker said "20-26 mpg" I drive 12 miles to work on the highway, not stop and go. I get 19 mpg. I talked with the salesman and the service department, at first the salesman said they would check it and tune it up. When I called to set up an appointment I was told they could not help my car,and I couldnt count on those numbers. I talked with the salesman again and this time he said the estimated gas mileage is 20-23, not 23-26". Why are the numbers different???? Why are these numbers put on cars if they are not true??? Thats false advertising!!!. I had a Lincoln Town Car that got 20mpg driving 70 mph, I drive 60-65 and get 19.

I run about 600 miles/week and I love it. Bought the 2.0 because I drive a manual. Its not a race car and it wont climb mountains but it sure drove well in the last two BIG snow storms. No need for 4 wheel drive. Quiet car. Lots of seating/cargo cominations and lots of really usefull, well placed/thought out features. Were getting a second one this month.

Very dependable and peppy - great interior features design. If the Santa Fe would have had better styling at the time, I would have enjoyed the extra cargo space. But, this has been a great vehicle to date!

  • WoW! What a Vehicle - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I have owned Jeeps, Geos, Sidekicks, Dodge Power Wagons, and Subarus...all were 4WD. None have the style, and "4WD" Technology that a Tucson has. I had a Elantra GT that I traded in (loved the GT, but missed that (4WD) thrill of just going out & having fun in the snow. Just had our big snow & did it prove itself. It scooted up and down all the hills here in Pennsylvania and it felt like I wasnt even really trying it out. Im thinking about some staight up winter treads; no telling the potential the Tucson would have if you put much better "FEET" under it (aggressive winter treads in winter & my All Seasons back on in the summer). Go buy one, youll love it and hope for snow

  • Goodbye Elantra..... Hello Tucson! - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Having traded in my 02 Elantra GT Hatch for the Tucson, I was amazed at what Hyundai had done with their newest SUV! I love the additional performance I get from the 2.7 V-6, as opposed to my previous 2.0 4-Banger. The interior is laid out so "User- Friendly", and pleasant to look at. Everything is right where you need it! I thoroughly enjoy the height increase, that I get going from a sedan to a SUV. I can actually see the traffic ahead now. The ease of the seats folding down, including the front passengers seat back, was a big seller for me. The added bonus of 10 airbags, ABS/TCS/ESP, was the main reason I purchased. Not to mention that my insurance went down $25 from the Elantra.

  • You got to have one of these! - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

It drives nice, easy to handle. Smooth ride. Weve traveled to Florida to Kentucky. Heated leather seats are very comfortable. A lot of room in the whole car, passenger area in back comfortable and plenty of room for arm near the window. Back seats are easy to adjust. Its a wonderful car and I hightly recommend it! I would buy second one...I came out of a Honda CRV and didnt think I would buy anything else...but I did!

  • Updated 05 Tucson GLS review - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Ive had the Tuc for a year and 7 months/18,500 miles now. I do like the car overall. The main problem is GAS MILEAGE. Check a few Tucson forums and you will find this is a major complaint. I get about 14mpg city! That is unacceptable. Hyundai has to address this, there IS a problem. Ive also had a couple problems(A/C system almost caught fire) that required dealer attention. Other than this, I really enjoy the Tucson. Great looking, inside is very nice and well thought out, & all the standard safety features make this a great value Also, if you run into snow where you live, get the AWD. I wish I did now. PS to some other posters-I dont think the sideview mirrors are heated.

I have been driving 2005 Tucson GL for 2 and a half years now, and it has been great experience! Just a regular oil changes and brake pads after 40,000, but I think its becasue of hilly areas that were in. We (my wife and I) drove it around quite a bit, to Chicago to Virginia, and its really fun to drive both city and highway. Its still quiet, and has lots of room. I was so please with lots of space (both rear seats and a passenger side seat can be completely folded) when I moved after the purchase. Mine is a front wheel drive, but it was quite fun to drive on snowy roads, especially electric stability system was great when I drove the hilly drive ways.
