The Hyundai Tucson is an all-new compact SUV from Hyundai. It rides on the Elantra platform and is intended for buyers who want a smaller package than the midsize Santa Fe.

Pros:
  • Generous warranty, standard ABS and stability control, roomy passenger and cargo space, attractive interior, standard side and head curtain airbags.
Cons:
  • Low horsepower rating, some cheap interior materials here and there.

  • LX doing just fine, thank you - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

We purchased our LX at Thanksgiving last November and have taken it on a couple of cross-country trips already. We really like the heated seats and mirrors here in Chicagoland, and our fuel economy has been in the 21-22 mpg range commuting, and 23-24 on the highway going cross country. Build quality is very good, and having electronic stability control is a great plus.Love the 6 airbags. Id like if it had a little more horsepower, but it accelerates okay, and runs happy and pretty quiet at highway speeds. I recommend this vehicle to those that want alot of "extras", but dont want to pay alot to have them. We chose this vehicle over Rav4, CRV, and Escape. 10yr/100000 mile warranty too!

After owning one for about a month now< Id have to say that this is the best car Ive ever had. Ive driven Hondas, Toyotas, and Mitsubishis and Id have to say that the Tucson is my favorite. Awesome job Hyundai!

  • Power Failures - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Bought a Tucson for female, working college student who commutes. Nothing but TROUBLE. Year 1 -it began flashing power lights, and dying on her while driving. Then began having dead batteries randomly. Hyundai Service refused to replace the battery until 2 year warranty was up so we had to PAY for one. Also dead if it isnt driven for several days. Something in the elec system is pulling juice during non- running time but they cant find it and have now given up. We will replace it with one she can be secure and safe driving (and not driving). SKIP THIS MODEL TUCSON!!!

  • great car poor gas mileage - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I fell in love with the car the moment I saw it, it has nice styling and you get alot for the money, (options, air bags, etc.) however Ive been extremely disappointed with the gas mileage only averasging about 10mpg considerably less then I was promised. When you speak with the dealership they tell you it takes 10000 miles to break in the car. Who ever heard of such nonsense. The car also pulls to the right and they tell me thats from the angle of the road for water drainage. again nonsense answer. Very pretty and roomy car but very poor service from the dealewrship which is very disappointing. To make this a better brand Hyundai needs to rein in its dealers for better service.

  • Best car for the money - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I think this car is one of the best cars Ive driven in quite a while. It has great pick up for a SUV. I also like the warranty. It is definitely a car I would buy again.

  • Happy, but not ecstatic about Tucson - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Pretty little SUV - looks like a new Lexus, except I have dual exhaust and they dont! Gas mileage is fair - I was disappointed (same as my big 8 cyl Mercury Grand Marquis) Buzzy stereo system - Ill probably have it replaced. Need power seats! No need for the automatic/manual shift. Did have engine light come on once- defective "speed sensor."

  • New hyundai 3500 miles - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Love it. The only problem I have is not getting the fuel economy I thought I would. Get 22 pretty consistently. Wanted 25 or more for highway. other than that, its been great for as little as Ive had it.

  • incredible value; better than a minivan - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I had been driving a minivan for the last 17 years. From the first time I sat in the Tucson, I basically fell in love with it! I thought the Ford Aerostar was the best vehicle ever. However, I changed my mind within the first week of owning and driving the Tucson! Everything about it is just right. Not too big, not too small. Very comfortable. I also like all the safety features and the terrific warranty you get with the vehicle! Im hooked and look forward to many years of fun driving!!

  • My Hburg Tucson - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

We spent apporximately 2 month researching the purchase of a small SUV and everything kept pointing to the Hyundai Tucson. Purchase was based on price, appearance, and most of all safety. We compared this to the Subaru, Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner and several other types and ended up purchasing the Tucson, GLS V6 4X4. We love our Tucson and the way it handles and the comfort.

  • Hungry at the Pump - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I have put my first 3000 miles on this truck. So far no problems. Comfortable for me and enough room for those Home depot trips. Rides quiet and smooth. Good handling with nice turn radius.
