Rear fender panel loose. Battery failed in 3rd year. Carousel under floor too low to the ground. Smashed it in hitting road hazard first year. Gas mileage terrible. Tires wearing unevenly. Road noise very loud, brakes squeal.

This review is written of the truth. My families first roadtrip of over 1700 miles with our 2 kids was an absolute joyride. The ride was quiet which is almost impossible with 2 kids and they were thoroughly entertained with the DVD system for the 2 day ride. We have had more problems on a plane ride for 3 hours than in this van for 2 days! My brother has a BMW 740i and this van is just as luxurious with the heated seats and leather interior not to mention the sunroof and cupholders for days! Power when needed. Tried the sienna and the quest and for overall room, amenities, comfort the honda covered all the bases

  • Horrible gas mileage - 2005 Honda Odyssey

Purchased Touring Odyssey in September 2004. Have experienced poor gas mileage from Day 1--complained and was told it needed to "get broken in." Was advertised as getting average of 20 mpg/city and 28 mpg/highway--The best I get in city is 15 mpg and 21/highway. I owned a 2000 Odyssey and got 18 mpg--would have never purchased the newer model had I known of the erroneous information on mileage. Also, the Touring edition has an "economy" feature that shifts into 2 or 4 cylinders with an "eco" light coming on to let you know it is "conserving fuel"??? I spoke with rep from Honda of America in California today with my concern and told that in fact they are hearing of 15 mpg/city as normal.

  • Great Buy - 2005 Honda Odyssey

Great van! We bought the EX-L. My wife vowed never to drive a van, but after taking this one for a test drive she was sold. We test drove the Toyota, but the overall options, handling (doesnt feel like a minivan), and interior design fitted our needs the best (two kids). We replaced the power steering pump after 65k miles, but luckily we bought the extended warranty). Great van to travel in or just around town.

  • Most Overrated Minivan in the World - 2005 Honda Odyssey

The drivers side power door opens a few inches and then stops, a real pain with a new baby which is the only reason we went the Honda route. Poor noise insulation, DVD works ok but the headphones have never worked correctly. Dome light barely lights up, Back seats are uncomfortable on a long trip. Traded a mid-level 1998 Olds Silhouette in on this much quieter, better ride, comparable power, and handled the same. 105K miles was time for a new vehicle, this is our last Honda.

  • A Good Mini-Van Overall - 2005 Honda Odyssey

Being on a budget, I opted for the Odyssey LX model. I am disappointed by the interior fit & finish of this model. Especially when compared to my 03 CRV EX. The car was delivered with a large gap above the upper glove box, weather-stripping & door molding that was disconnected from the door as well as cheap plastic everywhere the dashboard also makes squeaking noises. I am quite surprised that these issues (gaps and disconnected molding) were not taken care of by quality control at the Alabama plant. I also notice a strange grinding noise when first driving off at about 12 mph, it lasts about 1 second. Honda is aware of this and advised me that this is a self-check of the stability control.

  • High price- Medium Value - 2005 Honda Odyssey

You would think that the flagship minivan would have higher value. I bought this Honda because the critics said it was the best value and all that other jazz. So far too many problems. Brakes squeal when stopping from high speeds and now most recent my front tires are nearly bald to the wear bars. Honda and the tire dealer are offering no assistance. They want me to fork out more money. Also had the A/C replaced after "road debris" cracked my condenser. Highly recommend investing in a BRA that covers the front air dam with mesh or something else. 75% satisfied with the vehicle. After all it is a Honda and is very comfortable and semi good value.

  • Best Family Vehicle - 2005 Honda Odyssey

We bought this new. Its been the best vehicle weve ever owned. Great on road trips with us getting 28mpg. Room for all 4 of us, luggage and dogs. Weve done all required service and never had a problem. Drives like a car with more room than a large SUV. I really cant think of anything that we dont like about it.

  • NO MORE ODYSSEY!!! - 2005 Honda Odyssey

Problems: electrical, alignment, noise, engine, breaks, steering. It was the last time I bought a Honda minivan. The trips to service shops have been constant. We spent almost $6000 in last year alone after the warranty ended. If you want to buy this van, be ready for the inconvenience and financial stress. When you buy a new and expensive car, you think that you are stress free for at least 5 years, that is not the case here. We had problem from the very first day till today.

  • Front Seat Controls - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I did not realize, until after purchase that the passenger seat did not have automatic elec. controls. . My old 1997 Ford Explorer, had controls. Entrance to the third row seating, from the use of the sliding 2nd row seat, is a little tight. Dont want to remove 2nd row console. 2 or 3 inches further movement on the 2nd row would make a big difference.2 Gas prices have gone up considerably since purchase of Odyssey, but we wanted a large comfortable auto. Therefore cant complain about mileage. I guess the mileage is pretty good considering size of car. These are all cosmetic issues. Botom line, we really like the 2005
