We have five young children who are very hard on vehicles. We live in Texas and log a lot of miles just in our daily life. We have had no mechanical issues, some electrical issues secondary to Dr. Pepper. The car rides solid and drives true with 80k on it, a majority of it city and suburban driving. Would buy again. Our dealer has been very supportive and has given us excellent service from the sale to present day.

  • Wind Noise is terrible - 2005 Honda Odyssey

The noise level in the Odyssey is terrible. You can hear the road noise as if you are riding on the hood. If I was to do it again I would of bought a Sienna!!!!

  • A few bugs... but... Problems add up... - 2005 Honda Odyssey

The usual wind whistle is the window shield trim and windshield gap. Sealed the area with black rvt sealant. Brake pads went out or had loud noise clucking. It was a recall thing, I have a loud clunk in very hot weather when I brake. The dash blower fan went out, the power steering had a howl when turning around 10-20 mph. It was known to the dealer, as most Honda had a bad set of steering pumps and brake pads on Hondas two weeks ago, my transmission at 40- 45 mph when I accelerate and at 20-25 mph when I slow down, it lurches or has harsh shifting feel. Dealer will not give out recall or part issues until you have a problem, in or out of warranty. The seats are very uncomfortable.

  • A Great Van - 2005 Honda Odyssey

Bought this van in January 05. So far (5,000 miles) have not have one problem with the vehicle. Performance is impressive and mileage is decent (better than my 1988 Volvo). Ive driven Sienna - there is definately hesitation when you step on the gas - plus I consider the front end to be ugly. Pick-up and handling are terrific. Only minus is the NAVs ability to recognize certain voice commands. I highly recommend this van to anyone in the market. v

Just completed a 7,000 mile plus trip from Maryland to Alberta, Canada.. Vehicle was very comfortable, fun to drive. Disappointed in miles per gallon though. Would barely make 20 mpg during most of the trip, with an occasional peak of 22 mpg.. Previously made the identical trip in a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria, same speeds, similar load, same route. The Ford with a 4.6 liter V8 averaged 24 mpg with peaks of 27 mpg. I expected to do better with the Honda with its 3.5 liter V6 and ballyhood VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) that advertised up to 29mpg... My Ford averages 20-21mpg in our normal around town driving... So far the Honda only averages around 18mpg in the same..

Have owned the odyssey for 13 months & have othing but good things to say about its performance.

  • 2500 mile vacation - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Took a 2500 mile trip with my Honda LX. Best mileage was 26.47 mpg highway, the worst was 16.99 mpg with city and low octane gas.The seats are very uncomfortable and firm, and we had to stop every hour to get out of the van.aWe added padded seat cushions and several small pillows for the chairs, then we could sit in the seats several hours without our legs going numb. With a full load for vacation the van rode very harsh over rough highways and expansion joints. We had wind noise from 35 to 70mph. It is the windshield trim strip gap. Acceleration was great. It has a much sharper turning radius for parking.

  • Odysseys a Disappointment - 2005 Honda Odyssey

I was so excited to purchase the redesign model of this van after owning an Accord I loved. We had to move to a minivan after the birth of our 3rd child. Weve had the power steering pump replaced 5 times, and were preparing to put on the 3rd set of tires (@ 67K miles)! Weve been told only 1 tire is made for the van-- Michelin --cha ching! I love the overall look of the van inside and out, enjoy the interior features and layout, and love to drive it despite all the aggravation. I must say, though, the van was a let down in general. I was really hoping for better fuel economy with the Honda reputation. I average 18 mpg around town.

So Far I had a few things to pick about. The van came from another dealership so i really didnt have a choice other then that it was the color that i wanted. 1.scratches here and there inside the van(dealer going to fix that). 2.needed alignment(dealer taking care of that as well. 3.Glove box off alignment(did that myself). All in all the van is really nicer then most in its class.

  • Love It - 2005 Honda Odyssey

I have been so happy about my Odyssey. I owned a 2004 Sienna (for 3 months before it was stolen), but we decided to get the Odyssey when it came out. We love the way the Odyssey drives - much less like a boat (Sienna) and more like a sedan. My husband, a sports car driver, doesnt even mind driving the minivan now!!
