This Year's Model Updates:

Honda has completely redesigned the Civic for 2006. Highlights include a more powerful and fuel-efficient 1.8-liter engine, new exterior styling, an advanced interior design and more premium features. The company has also improved the gas-electric IMA system for the Civic Hybrid and restored the Civic Si trim's potency with a 197-horsepower engine and a sportier coupe body style. Midway through the year, Honda will also introduce a new "GX" trim level that runs on natural gas.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, lots of standard safety equipment, roomy and refined interior, special Hybrid, GX and Si models.
Cons:
  • Polarizing dash design, top-of-the-line models are pricey.

I traded in my RX-8 for better gas mpg. I only average 28 mpg city/highway. I like the car but have some complaints. The fit & finish is OK, not great, my subwoofer causes a vibration noise in the car. This car is very hard to judge because you cant see the front or rear of car. The ride is very nice. I like the car but I am somewhat disappointed in some areas. I hope the mpg improves.

The car is great I bought the car used with 7000 miles on it. I average about 23-27 MPG in town and 30-35 freeway but on one trip was averaging 40 mpg. I have had only one complaint and that is I got the Si which came with Michelin Pilot MXMA tires great tires but the soft rubber I had to replace within 20k miles not a big deal since they are a strictly sport tire not made for snow or rainy conditions. So I got a all season sport tire and no problems. I would definitely recommend this car as only maintenance I have done is oil changes and Ive had no problems.

Excellent value from a vehicle that only continues to exceed all of our expectations. Fuel economy is outstanding, averaging 34 true MPG in 75/25 city/highway use. Handling is on par with many sports cars, yet roomy enough for 4 adults in total comfort. Performance is surprisingly good in relation to the fuel economy. While not a car for the dragstrip (that would be the Si) it easily climbs to highway speeds quickly, feels safe in passing situations and climbs Colorado mountain passes without problems. While this vehicle is currently driven most often by my teen-age son and daughter, I believe I have seen the future. I will soon be trading my Lexus SUV for a 2007 Honda Civic.

  • Fuel Efficient - 2006 Honda Civic

Before purchasing, I read several reviews on this and other cars. I owned a 2002 Camry, but just wasnt comfortable in that new style that model year brought. I read where several people were not happy with the fuel efficiency of the Civic, especially in city driving. After about 6,000 miles, I can state that I am NOT one of those people. Although most of my driving is highway, I do have some city driving. I average 37 mpg overall. On two predominantly highway trips, I average 42 mpg. I admit, finding a car that is comfortable for me to drive has been nearly impossible for about the last five years, so perhaps take my comfort rating with that in mind.

  • Good, better, best... - 2006 Honda Civic

My previous car was a 2005 Honda Accord 2.4l 4cyl. A beautiful car. I must admit a degree of trepidation in the purchase of my first Hybrid. All my fears were allayed. This is a perfect mix of economy, comfort and performance... in that order. Straight out of the box I got 50mpg without even trying in the worst bumper to bumper traffic on earth. I have a 60 mile round trip to work. With a mix of city and clogged higway travel. Just love those gauges. It really does "teach" you how to drive for economy. I like the way it looks like a standard Civic.

  • Civic snow dilemma - 2006 Honda Civic

My Honda has been reliable in fair weather and rain, but snow, I find it a problem to get up some of the smallest hills. I bought a manual transmission hoping I would have more control in the snow. I thought it was the tires, so I bought new tires, still have the same problems. Also, I open the window and water seems to pour in on the controls when its raining and rolling the window down usually has cleared the windows in past vehicles, but it doesnt, seems the like the rubber squeegy is on the wrong side of the window? Had a ford contour w/ no problems in snow.

  • Great can but noisey - 2006 Honda Civic

The 06 Honda Civic is an overall great vehicle, nice design, pep, and great gas mileage. There is a problem with wind noise and tire noise however. After 17,000 miles, it sounds like a distant freight train on various road surfaces. My tire guy stated its a common complaint about the Bridgstones on the vehical. Honda needs to make this right. The dealer says tire wear and bad alinement? But the noise is getting louder. Again a love the car but if this keeps up Ill get rid of it. I dont believe I should have to purchase new tires after just 17k!

  • Nice coupe - 2006 Honda Civic

Have the car for about 6 months now. Not many complaints at all. The biggest one is that the I still can not find a seating position that is 100% comfortable. I am 6ft tall and whatever seat position I adjust to, it feels not really comfy. Getting good gas milage (32-35mpg). No problems so far.

  • Best Civic Ever - 2006 Honda Civic

Its simply the best honda civic ever build. Its so much fun to drive this car. Everywhere I go people is looking at it. I sold my old 2000 civic EX for this one and this have so much more power and feels so much more sporty.
