This is a our commuter car (110,000) 108 miles a day, mostly highway @ 70mph. We get 35 to 38 mpg. We were pretty smart in 05 to get it then. Im 61 and find it ok for the hour drive. My 16 year old twins hate the back seat but that is what the mini-van is for. Ok for quick hops. We have the autotrans (my wifes choice) and that takes some getting used to when braking. It automatically down shifts and feels like an additional brake. Before this Civic we had an 02 lx and it did the same thing. A feature? The 02 was never the same after the deer strike so we traded it in. All in all, great vehicle and we are looking at the 08 Civic lx - and the boys cant wait to get the 05

  • My New Civic, Although I Miss My Old One - 2005 Honda Civic

I just purchased a used 2005 Civic EX M/T Special Edition and OMG. It is SAH- WEEEET. I traded in a 98 civic for this one and immediately i like the design from the 6-disc cd changer to the red illumination on the panel. the alloy wheels and the spoiler definately make the exterior look very sporty. all in all I miss my old civic but i REALLY love my new one. 5 Speed all the way baby. Civics are the reason I started driving manual and Ill never go back!

Honda was my dream car after our last "American car" purchase, a Ford ranger pick up with a transmission made in France and an international array of car parts, I decided on reliability, fuel economy and ease of handling. And it is fun to drive. Exactly what I got.

  • Honda Civic HX - NOT the hybrid - 2005 Honda Civic

Great Car. However, Whenever I say "HX most people (including dealers) think Im talking about the Hybrid version of the Civic. They dont realize its a Civic coupe with a 1.7 gas engine ans CVT (or 5 speed) transmission. Its screwed togther very well. Nice interior, good gauges, could use an arm rest and should come from factory with A/C. I dont mind the manual rollup windows but some might. There should be an upgrade to the sound system. The CVT takes some getting used to but is very smooth and seamless as it chifts to higher ratios on the freeway. The cruise is excellant All-in-all this is a quality built, rattle free, great mileage car that is fun and comfortable to drive.

  • A Gas-Sipping Treasure - 2005 Honda Civic

I bought a Certified 05 Civic EX SE A/T with 9,000 miles via Ebay. I drove it 650 miles back home and it was a pleasure. The ergonomics of the controls are stellar the comfort of the seats superb, and the driving experience a pleasure. I averaged well over 40 MPG on the freeways I am averaging well over 30 MPG around town. I love the sound system and head unit on the SE I also like the leather-wrapped steering wheel & the spoiler. All the controls are intuitive & easy to use. The ride is supple yet the car is eager and willing through corners. Fit & finish are impeccable both inside the car and outside. Even with the automatic transmission, the car is peppy.

  • My First New-ish Car - 2005 Honda Civic

I purchased my little white 2005 Honda Civic VP Coupe in May of this year. So far, I love it! From the moment I got in it I felt like I belonged in it. The car looks great, feels responsive and the a/c works fine for Florida summers. The gas mileage seems OK but not quite as great as I was imagining - but still an improvement over my last car! I love my civic VP - it was affordable and may not have everything I want, but it has exactly what I need.

  • Better Than I expected! - 2005 Honda Civic

Ive always driven large vehicles - Jeep Grand and big Dodge Truck - switching to a smaller "car" was a huge step and it turned out that I made the right choice with the Honda Civic. It meets all of my expectations. Im a realtor and my clients approve!

  • Hybrid Surprise - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought the Civic Hybrid to ensure that my wife could make her 100 mile (round trip) commute even if gas were to be rationed. Her other car is a Mercedes, and although she says that the Merc "fits her better," she has only driven it three times in the three months that we have had the Civic. On the rare occasions that I have been permitted to drive the Honda, I have been impressed with its fit, finish, and general willingness to do whatever I ask it to do. It is definitely a small, light car, but it is almost silent at speed, and surprisingly lively. We are averaging 45mpg to date, and make no special attempts to conserve fuel. Overall, the Civic Hybrid was a great choice.

  • Beware of the lemon - 2005 Honda Civic

If you are thinking of buying a Honda beware, I bought a Honda thinking that it would be a great investment and that it would be worry free. Two weeks later, my A/C did not work properly. Two weeks after I had it repaired, it failed to start. I took it back to the dealership and they could not find a problem and I still have this issue. I have called Honda and they are not concerned with having a defective product. As soon as I can I will get rid of this vehicle. The myth that imports are better vehicles are just that myths. There is a lot of noise in the vehicle my 05 will rattle down the interstate, I hear a clicking everytime the windshield wipers come on, and wont start everytime
