Truly Timely - 2005 Honda Civic
By Elizabeth David - October 20 - 11:46 pmAnticipation (gas prices) and looking for 3 years to replace our "old reliable" 1992 Pontiac Bonneville were the main motivations for purchasing our Honda Hybrid. I drive a one hour round trip commute every day to work and now only take 1/2 tank a week whereas the Pontiac had to filled every week. I know I save $60+ every month! It does seem to do better in cooler weather -- this morning (Nov. 9th) my gas mpg was 50.9 as I pulled into my parking spot. You do need to learn to drive a little differently (mostly braking gradually), but worth it! Fun thing: freak people out with how the engine and ac turn off when you stop -- can let up on brake to have ac turn back on in our humid climate.

Its pretty good, but not that great. - 2005 Honda Civic
By Luke Kim - October 18 - 4:46 pmWell I bought my Civic on February. The tranny is a little clucky, my gas mileage wilds out sometimes, and my engine sometimes doesnt start(coldstarts). Other than that the car is pretty nice. I would suggest a lot more horsepower for newer models and they did that already. LX owners if you think 127 hp V-Tec engine is better, its really not. The new Civic is going to come with 140 hp. But I wish I waited and get the new Civic Coupe Si with 200 Hp V-Tec. Now thats engine power!

Reliable, but uncomfortable,noisy - 2005 Honda Civic
By Sue - October 14 - 5:59 pmI have owned my Honda Civic EX Coupe now for over 2 years, and found it is not the car for me. Found this out after renting a 2007 Mazda3 for a week, and discovered it is much more comfortable, more responsive turning and brakes, fabulous interior instrumentation! Over time, have found the Civic difficult to get in and out of, seats very uncomfortable, and long distance trips are painful. Biggest complaint is road noise! Ive driven on the highway and been unable to hear conversations with other passengers, or music unless it is very loud! Would not purchase this car again.

Excellent Car - 2005 Honda Civic
By Stan Grant - October 9 - 2:23 amI really like the handling of the Honda Civic Hybrid. Excellent gas mileage, great looks, sporty feel with the manual 5 speed. looks like a regular Civic which is great... Unlike the Toyota Prius - ugly.... I love it!

Perfection - 2005 Honda Civic
By Andy - October 8 - 1:35 pmI bought this car new and have owned it almost three years. Its hard to express my satisfaction! My last three tanks of gas got 37, 39, and 41 mpg, which is normal. The car has more than adequate power, the ride is smooth, the road noise is about right for this class of car. So far the car has worked perfectly, only routine maintenance, which is easy to do yourself. This quality of this car feels better than the new Civic.

Ill never go back to gas only . . . - 2005 Honda Civic
By matthew novak - October 4 - 9:30 pmI love this car. Love sitting at a stop and knowing that I am not like all the cars around me pumping pollution into the air, because I am on the electric motor. I used to have a lead foot, and now I have more fun trying to get great mileage instead. I love competing with myself from one tank of gas to the next to try and get better and better mileage. So far the best tank of gas was 62.8 mpg and the worst was about 42 mpg. I have one tach that I havent reset since I purchased her. Currently it says I am averaging 51.8 miles per gallon over the life of the car.

Equalizer - 2005 Honda Civic
By Bob - October 4 - 4:23 pmI put on over 100 miles a day, 70 on the hwy and 30 in town. Since I bought my Honda Civic (5 speed stick) 2 months ago I have a cumulative average of 48 mpg. This has made our move out to the country make much more sense. I named the car the Equalizer.

best mileage you can get in 4 door car - 2005 Honda Civic
By hybrid civic - October 4 - 10:06 amAn awesome Honda that combines 4 door, multi person capability with totally awesome mpg with the 5 speed. Mine has over 80 K miles and I frequently get 80 + mpg on hiwy with cautious speeds (not exceed limit of 55). Special driving techniques also gives 60++ mpg suburban driving ! Easily goes over 800 miles per tankful on regular gas.

Hybrid 2005 - 2005 Honda Civic
By beebee - September 30 - 11:12 amLike everything about the car. Gets great gas mileage, about 37 mpg combined. Its a nice alternative to the Prius which has a weird display in the middle of the car. Wish the seats were softer but can always get a little cushion. I am very very happy with this car.

My first hybrid - 2005 Honda Civic
By Wes Trayner - September 26 - 6:13 pmAfter hearing all of the hoopla about hybrid cars, I decided to turn in a gas guzzler for a Honda Civic Hybrid. The car performs well at all speeds and handles a rides as one would expect of a quality compact car. Do not expect it to be first off the line at a stop light but it is not sluggish. My first tank of gasoline got me 37.2 mpg (city) the second tank got 38.4 with each tank getting slightly more. The last tank got 42.3 and time will tell what the car will eventually level out at. The gauges available for viewing on the dash are very helpfull in learning to get the best from the car. Overall, I really like this car.
