This Year's Model Updates:

Honda takes a bold leap for 2005 with the introduction of the Hybrid Accord. Rather than add a hybrid motor to its four-cylinder, Honda bolts its third-generation IMA system to the Accord's already-potent V6. In one fell swoop the Accord hybrid has become the class leader in fuel economy (30 city, 38 highway) and power (255 horsepower). Other changes for the 2005 Honda Accord this year include new wheel cover designs for the LX and EX trims, a new coin pocket design, illuminated steering wheel controls and improved rear styling in sedans with redesigned taillamps. In addition, front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags are now available on all trim levels all the way down to the base DX model.

  • Not the best for a tall guy. - 2005 Honda Accord

Over all a nice sporty car with good interior functions. Fair gas mileage. Fun to drive. Lots of storage for such a small car.

  • Not Trading 2005 for 2008! - 2005 Honda Accord

Ive had 2005 EX V6 for over 3 years now and have decided to hang onto it for a few more years, because I think the new body style is ugly! Right before the warranty expired, the whole transmission needed to be replaced. Challenging myself to get the highest MPGs I could, I recently achieved over 37 MPGs on a trip on the highway, never exceeding 65 mph and being very gentle on the accelerator. Cant beat that for efficiency! Other than the transmssion, Ive had no problems with the car, so Im hanging onto it. Compared to American sedans I drive at work, the steering and suspension feel "alive" and connected to me.

Minus normal wear and tear the car has held up perfect almost. Seems to have a slight rattle from interior finish at highway speeds but besides that minus and misalighnment the car is great overall.Best overall car I have owned yet. Only the Eclipse of 98 was more fun to drive. I would buy this car again for their 2009 model possibly. The four cylinder has plenty of power you would believe it was a four.

  • nice and economical - 2005 Honda Accord

Have had the car for about a month now. Seats are comfortable and the dual temp control is a nice feature. XM radio is a great addition. For the difference in price between leather seats or cloth seats, and all the extra goodies you get with leather seats, cant imagine why anyone would get an EX without leather. I get about 29 MPG with 1500 miles on the engine. The car accelerates adequately and is quiet at highway speeds. Suspension is a bit stiff, but is acceptable. This car is very easy to start and shift. Would be a great car to learn stick shift on.

  • Rattles and squeaks - 2005 Honda Accord

I like this vehicle alot the first week. But as the weather is getting cold, the interior dashboard is starting to squeak and rattle when going over bumps. I am not the only one experiencing this. I have read other with complaints about this. Whats going on with American made Honda now...just like the domestic brands now...do something Honda.

  • Power vs. Fuel Economy - 2005 Honda Accord

I have owned the car for a few months now and have had no real problems with the vehicle. Those who are hesitant about the fuel milage, think of it: its a V6 Hybrid, not a 4cyl hybrid. If I wanted to get from point A to point A and 1/2, I would have purchased a 4cyl. For a V6, you cannot beat the fuel mileage. I have a lead foot and average 26 in the city. I get 35 on the highway at 85mph assuming I drive 150 miles. The electric motor only assists the car, not takes over the place of the engine. The engine stops when the car stops and does the A/C compressor. If you shift to a low gear then put it back in place, your car will stay running. I personally like the car. Tons of power.

  • Accord Coupe - 2005 Honda Accord

I purchased this late in 05 when the 06 models came out. Overall, its a decent car. after 2 years of ownership, I have discovered many issues with the car. Squeaks, rust spots, loose panels, cheaply put together parts, crappy brakes, mysterious noises, rattles etc. the tires are the worst. tranny is a bit wacky. All together, the car is running. It has a fairly reliable powertrain. Other than that, the Honda Accord isnt what its cracked up to be anymore.

  • Inadequate provision for flats - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

The Honda Accord EX Hybrid has no spare tire. It has fluid and a pump for holding the tire for a limited period of time until it can be fixed. The replacement fluid at the dealers is $100 for about a quart. Apparently they do not plan to sell much of it. The best choice, it seems to me, is to buy a utility spare for about $140 and put it in an already small trunk. I dont know that I would have bought the car had I known this at the time. It is something I should have asked about, but I had no idea that a major manufacturer and dealership would have such inadequate means for dealing with flat tires and at such a high price. Blowouts require a tow.

  • Great Car - 2005 Honda Accord

I am a mom of two small children. This is a great car for gas mileage, hauling my kids to birthday parties, etc. and I have been a Honda owner since 1994 so I am a firm believer in Hondas. They have never let me down, been very dependable, almost NO maintance at all. But this car has a 4 cylinder engine and it is not a very "fun" car to drive. But it is a great car and we have had no trouble with it at all. Highly recommend.

  • Great Ride - 2005 Honda Accord

This is a great car with lots of power and decent fuel economy. Interior is very roomy and comfortable.
