This Year's Model Updates:

Honda takes a bold leap for 2005 with the introduction of the Hybrid Accord. Rather than add a hybrid motor to its four-cylinder, Honda bolts its third-generation IMA system to the Accord's already-potent V6. In one fell swoop the Accord hybrid has become the class leader in fuel economy (30 city, 38 highway) and power (255 horsepower). Other changes for the 2005 Honda Accord this year include new wheel cover designs for the LX and EX trims, a new coin pocket design, illuminated steering wheel controls and improved rear styling in sedans with redesigned taillamps. In addition, front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags are now available on all trim levels all the way down to the base DX model.

  • My New 05 Accord Coupe EX V6 6sp - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

This is my review of my new 05 Honda Accord Coupe in the EX V6 6 speed variant. FYI, I am an aerospace engineer, so I do look closely. I didnt even do a test drive for 2 reasons, first they didnt have a 6 speed on the lot then and I had recently sold my 2000 Integra GS-R and knew the quality I was looking for. I might add, if Acura would have put a 6 cylinder in the Integra I would have kept it, but ... I purchased the Sapphire Blue sight unseen but from the brochure and was very happy when it showed up at the dealer. The color was brilliant in the sunlight with a mild metallic sparkle, the color/paint was consistent over the contours and body seams.

  • Gas Mileage Stinks - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

Right from the start the gas mileage has been terrible. Around Orlando, we average 17 mpg. The dealer tested it for 48.5 miles, a combination of city and highway and got 19.4 mpg. Honda of America said this is normal/acceptable. We believe it is the transmission. The transmission shifts somewhat roughly and drags when we take a foot off the gas at slower speeds. We reported the problem to Hondas customer service center. So far, we are totally disappointed with the gas mileage this car is getting. We think we are in for a hassle, based on Hondas initial response.

  • Good but square! - 2005 Honda Accord

Like the overall body styling but, the rear lights are ugly (sad face look). Would like better color choices, the blue is too flashy and other choices are not very appealing.

  • Newbie - 2005 Honda Accord

Was offered below MSRP price which brought it in range with the loaded Accord non-hybrid version. With tax break it will end up about the same as a regular Accord. Didnt want the nav package as I dont like dedicated PC like hardware in a car. It becomes obsolete too fast. It is very comfortable to drive for both city and highway Nice power when you want it. So far my gas mileage for the highway has been around 27 mpg highway. My lead foot is probably the issue. Because of the deal I got I cant complain. Gonna get a real spare though!

  • A Car Enthusiasts Hybrid - 2005 Honda Accord

The days of choosing between a fuel-efficient "pregnant rollerskate" and a car that passes everything but a gas station are over. The Accord Hybrid nicely packages performance with fuel economy. The exceptional marriage of the vaunted 3.0L V- TEC V6 engine with an electric motor is definitely the vehicles mechanical strength. This is Hondas third-generation IMA project, and it shows far greater refinement than its predecessors. My primary concern rests with Accords standard automatic transmission. It surely contributes to the vehicles "smoothness," but my tranny can be finicky. It waits too long to shift at times and can create a pause-and-burst sensation between first and second gears.

  • What a feeling...usually. - 2005 Honda Accord

My EX has been back to the dealership way too many times for hard starting and cold sputtering until warm-up. Honda says the hard start problem is a result of the emission system going through a "test cycle" periodically. I have a 2005 Lexus ES330 which hums along perfectly, without as much as a hiccup. Honda needs to eliminate this issue on their V6 engines.

  • Not nearly there! - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

I do not recommend this car. My expectations have not nearly been met. Highway mileage is great but city mileage has yet to break 20 MPG in suburban Boston. Im certain that will improve after the winter but will be no where near the EPA mileage. The biggest disappointment is the loose steering. As a three car owner, all Hondas, the steering doesnt compare to either the CRV or the Odyssey. This car replaced a German Sports sedan. I wasnt expecting the same drive but I didnt expect to despise HIGHWAY driving. Its not quite as bad as a big 1967Chevy wagon, but its bad. IM considered trading the car in. Drive this on the highway with turns before you seriously consider purchase

  • Good, But Not Great - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

Lots of pep under 50 mph, but 4 banger accelerates slowly at higher speeds. Feel every crack/bump in the road due to harsh suspension. Too much wind noise, and sunroof makes a buzzing sound when going over 40 mph on rough surfaces. Seats are a little uncomfortable for a 250 lb. heavyweight. Averaging 33 mpg.

  • Terrific so far - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

This is my first Japanese car. So far, I am really enjoying it. I bought it for the safety (front, side, and side curtain airbags and a good structure), the comfort, and the gas mileage. I was used to a gas-guzzling Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, and the Honda is head and shoulders better in all categories. Its smooth, quiet, gets great gas mileage (30 MPG so far).

  • Good Simple Car - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

My new 05 Accord Sedan excels at nothing, and is defficient at nothing. It is a simple, reliable, quite car. It gets good gas mileage, is VERY safe, has plenty of room, is fast enough. It is not sporting to drive, nore is it boring. It is a car. A ---> B
