This Year's Model Updates:

Honda takes a bold leap for 2005 with the introduction of the Hybrid Accord. Rather than add a hybrid motor to its four-cylinder, Honda bolts its third-generation IMA system to the Accord's already-potent V6. In one fell swoop the Accord hybrid has become the class leader in fuel economy (30 city, 38 highway) and power (255 horsepower). Other changes for the 2005 Honda Accord this year include new wheel cover designs for the LX and EX trims, a new coin pocket design, illuminated steering wheel controls and improved rear styling in sedans with redesigned taillamps. In addition, front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags are now available on all trim levels all the way down to the base DX model.

Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful.

  • The No problem car with some style - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

I have had this car - 2.4L 4 cyl 5 spd manual- for 8 months now and over 9000 miles on it. It drives super smooth, nice gear box, no problems yet on any front except the reverse gear being hard to throw into the first 5 months - but now its behaving fine. Excellent interior space utilization by honda. 30 MPG with aggressive driving on city+highway. best acceleration when you keep revs at 3000-4500 rpm. Second gear acceleration is sluggish. Third and 4th gears are the best and you would not really feel the need for the fifth gear. Smooth cruising. this car certainly has the best acceleration you can get from a 4 cyl 160 HP engine. A great, economic all round car for anyone. Strongly recommend

  • WOULDNT HAVE ANYTHING BUT A HONDA! - 2005 Honda Accord

It is very comfortable and has plenty of room. Has the get up and go when you want it. Great buy for the money and very reliable. I test drove many cars in the same class and nothing compares to it. I give it an A+.

  • Hwy MPG Overrated for this commuter - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

This is my second Honda hybrid. Took my former Civic to nearly 100k miles in just under three years with few problems. Routine oil changes were more difficult on that version with 0 weight 30 not easy to find and quirky steps mechanics have to know... so far with the Accord, its a snap! My only complaint was the premium sticker price and that the fuel efficiency is nowhere close to that advertised. I am mostly drive on the highway and am averaging closer to 30 than 37. I was sold that the enhancements in hybrid technology were supposed to make this one better for increased hwy mileage than in town. Either way, Im all for hybrids and my experience has been good! Go Green!!

  • Great Commuting and Family Car - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

I commute 180 miles a day round trip, since 10/05 this car has been reliable and not let me down at all. For the cost of the car, it is a great buy. Following Hondas maintenance guide, 3000 mile oil changes are NOT necessary, the book shows 9000 miles for normal use, 6000 miles for extreme conditions. This is the first foreign car Ive owned for quite some time, with my daily drive, it wont be my last. This car performs well on the highway and in the city.

  • Honda Converts! - 2005 Honda Accord

Having ownen 8 cars with the time span of 10 years, I feel a bit experienced on what the middle class car lover would want in their next investment. Toyota always one step ahead, be it in styling, or toys, this year I was I was attracted to the Honda products and after test driving the Accord, was convinced the 2dr, roomy, sport yet elegant design was ALL me! This car has bought me over, and depending on long term performance and quality, I belive I am now a loyal consumer of Honda.

  • Paint chips too easily - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

Hondas look good but the paint chips very easily -- not good when parking in a city, where I live. But excellent to be in this car - nice interior, much more impressive than you would think with a Honda - very quiet, good AC, and nav and satellite make the ride fun.

  • REALLLY Good Car - 2005 Honda Accord

Nothing is better than getting a Hybrid V-6 with quality, reliability, comfort, and performance as the Honda. Especially, since I got it with less than 2000 Mi.and several thousands dollars below a regular V-6 and an 7 year extra warranty (I dont need to justify anymore the price of the car with the gas savings as every reviewer does when testing the car). Just the perfect combination. Starting it is like starting an electric car, no sound. Driving is much more precise than my Camry v-6 my wifes drives. I couldnt believe driving 224 highway Miles trip, in such comfort, and powerful machine would take just 5.2 gallon of reg.gas. The car Is a year old but I can still smell the new car smell when driving

  • Disappointed in GA - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

05 Accord Hybrid is not all that it was cracked up to be. I bought it for the advertised mileage of mid 30s. I got that only a couple of times. Averaged about 24-25 mpg. Save your $$$ when purchasing a car. Buy a regular Accord or other mid size sedan. Youll save a lot more with the difference between the ridiculous price of the hybrid vs. the price of a regular car.

  • Hybrid is Excellent Choice - 2005 Honda Accord

This was the best car purchasing experience I have had in 15 years of buying. Buy through Honda.com! They really do give you the best price. Even though this is a new vehicle, I still paid what I wanted, and got extras free. The car is tight! Quiet, comfortable, and a joy to drive. It takes a while to get used to the autostop, but you actually enjoy sitting at stop lights burning no fuel. It has pep too. The V6/electric motor combo is awesome. Merging w/traffic is easy despite the title "hybrid". I averaged 26mpg my first tank of nearly 100% short trip, stop and go. The few times I got on the highway I could immediately see the mileage cruise to above 35!

  • Disappointing Gas Mileage - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

I traded in a Land Rover Discovery II for this car. I was hoping to get mid 30s gas mileage and have been extremely disappointed. I drive equal highway and city and hoped that I would hit the mid-range of the EPA estimate. I have only made more than 30 mpg on three tanks and I have tailored my driving to keep the "Econ" light illuminated as much as possible. I actually thought there was something wrong with the car and took it back to the dealership. I was told that additives in the gas lowered the mileage. I like the "get up and go" of this car but am truly diappointed with the gas mileage. The odometer and the computer differed in their mpg rating, by as much as 1.5mpg.
